I am a newbie when it comes to long range air gun shooting. And I recently mounted a new scope and the zero range is around 20m. The scope has 25 MOA adjustment range on the turrets, and I had to adjust it around 13 MOA up at 20m meaning I only have around 10-11 MOA of adjustment left on my elevation turret. And today I decided to use strelok pro for some longer range shooting and found out that to shoot to 70m I have to adjust 11 MOA so that maxed out my elevation turret. Is there anything I can do other than adjustable mount, because I don't want to fiddle with them as I found out in the past that they can be a pain in the arse to get perfect. Any advice from some experts?

For strictly dealing with elevation, a fixed 20MoA rail is a solution that needs no tweaking. Otherwise, shim stock on the rear saddle of the scope rings.
For springers, applying a few thousandths of upward bend to the barrel is another option. Or machine or file the surfaces where the breech block meets the receiver so it swings closed a bit more.

The permanent, easy solution is to use adjustable mounts. BKL, Sports Optics, FX, and others make some great adjustable mounts. Use the mounts to make the primary adjustments and your scope turrets to fine tune.

Hawke makes some plastic shims you place inside the scope rings to tilt the scope. I've used them, it works. They are kind of expensive for little bits of plastic but if it saves a scope from damage.... Shimming the back ring up twists the scope tube a little. Might or might not be a problem

Yes I saw some bush sets from Sus Tac but don't exactly know how they work. Do they go between the mounts and the scope or how does this process exactly works. Might be my solution

most pcps at the standard velocity in the neighborhood of 900fps and a higher mounted scope wind up with an ideal zero in the 20yd range .. i 'always' stick a piece of credit card in the bottom of the rear saddle, that will get them alot closer to 'optical center' when zeroed ... the piece i use is as wide as the ring and about 5/8" long, keep it centered and tighten the scope down evenly, resist the urge to overtighten ... some rings may need longer screws, most commonly theyre 4mm caphead ..

Because I have a strange fondness of not warping my scopes, either a 20 MOA rail or Eaglevision adjustable mounts, NOT a fan of the FX mounts, the one's I have are close to worthless.
Milk carton plastic or soda can aluminum make great shims. WHY pay hard earned $ for something that really has no advantage over stuff you probably have at home? I see no advantage in purchasing.

The Burris XTR Signature scope rings comes with the shims to set up your optic with 0 to 40 MOA of cant. The set of rings will set you back about $100US, but they are pretty easy to use. You could set them up with 10 or 15 MOA of cant so that your 20m 0 would be at the bottom of your scopes range giving you a full 25 MOA for dialing up.

i have some thin aluminum roll that was leftover from a roofing project from years ago, it is really thin , anyway i have cut it with scissors & shimmed numerous scopes that did not have enough elevation always on the rear scope mount except the first time i got it wrong & shimmed the front..

Thanks to everyone that gave advice. After some long thinking anf hesitation I decided to shim the rear mount. I used a piece of electrical tape that was 0.18mm thick. I decided to use electrical tape because it is forgiving on the scope tube and doesn't compress easily over time. I gained 9 MOA after doing that! Didn't think that 0.18mm thickness can make that much of difference. I only expected around 3-4 MOA. But thanks to everyone who helped. Saved myself some money and a headache at the range

That's because they help prevent putting stress on the scope tube .. / damage the tube.
The riser rails or them rings are a safe bet .. or if your using a rail you can shim under it safely.

The calculation for shimming is an easy trigonometry problem but if you need to do it more than a time or two, it’s nice to have it in a spreadsheet. Here’s a copy I posted a while back if anyone needs it.

Shimming for moa
This question pertains to scope rings that allow you to adjust for elevation. How much lift / space would you need in the back scope ring to equal 20 MOA? A tooth pick or ? I’m sure there is math involved?🙄 In the olden days B4 adjustable Rings, people shimmed scopes.
