Range finding in chairgun

In chairgun there is a section about range finding. How do you use it

No expert, but apparently after setting inputs in Intercepts (hold over/under), you can switch to Rangefinder and see what the target would look like when positioned on top of the bottom reticle post. If close it would look bigger and reach higher on the reticle than if it were distant.
