I have a Nikon Aculon, works pretty good for me. I think I paid about $145 for it a couple years ago.

I suggest that you get one that has a built in inclinometer function. The one I have (HALO 450XL) - computes the right distance to shoot, given the angle of hold. No advanced math or guessing. If the range finder says 36 yards, shoot for 36 yards no matter the angle.

This is a basic unit that will read to 450 yards ON A REFLECTIVE target. Ground cover and animals I am limited to about 200 yards. It is not illuminated. It does have the fancy angle compensation and can be switched from yards to meters. It is basic, but it does what I need for both archery and air gunnery. You can find them at Walmart for about the same price.

My Halo 450XL just stopped ranging. less than a year old. Replaced the battery and still no good. It will come on but will not range. Replaced it with the Nikon Aculon. Much more clear view on the Nikon.

I got this range finder. It's also night vision. Also tell you degree of tilt, distance in meter and yards. Tell you how fast a car is traveling in kph/mph. Lots of feature for about $150.
