RAW 1000X LRT 3rd attempt - Could use some help

"beeser"My heads spinin' at this point and there seems so much to accomplish. Here's a list of what I've been working on fueled mostly on the responses received in this thread.

I ordered a bubble level that mounts on the picatinny rail. Actually one was ordered before with my first pellet purchase but it ended up on backorder, canceled and then forgotten. Good thing I was reminded of it.

Thanks for the suggestion of searching out a better target. I liked the one posted on the Phoenix Airgun Club website and have since printed out some. It's a single bullseye with numbered rings for the club's 100 meter competition. The X ring I believe is 1" in diameter. I'm afraid that the targets that have a lot of small circles crammed together is probably not appropriate for my skill level. Aiming at one circle is apt to only appear on adjacent ones and just confusing me.

I couldn't stop thinking about the fine crosshair reticle and how it seemed much easier to use than the graduated reticle scope that I recently purchased. So much so that I ended up ordering one of those too. It's the same Sightron scope except with the FCH reticle. Maybe it was a foolish and impulsive purchase but I couldn't get the idea out of my head.

And Percula, you must be reading my mind. I was just thinking about the EBR goal, the 100m event and my apparent presumptuousness. Thanks for reminding me that I have a BIG 75m hurdle to overcome. Also, someone mentioned that it was 100 meters not yards at EBR. Thanks for that too.

Geez, so many things to do and to accomplish. Good thing this is so much fun.

Cheers all and thanks again.

The targets on our club site are fine to work with.

Here is a link to the EBR http://www.extremebenchrest.com/extreme-benchrest-rules/ It gives you all the information from last year, aka likely will be the same this year, but subject to change. There is a link to the target used, not that its all that useful unless you are a printer or have a plotter handy lol. There is a single sheet practice target you can print too. The ten ring is 0.475" the X (inner most) ring is 0.200", the nine ring is 1.250". It's shot, one shot per bull, 25 bulls per card.

When you figure out which reticle you like, contact me and make me an offer I can't refuse for the other ;)

"beeser"It probably wasn't a good idea to bury this question in an earlier post so here it is again.

Would a reticle on the first focal plane eliminate parallax?
I can confirm what Joe Said. The need for parallax adjustments is no different on my FFP scope than my others.

Parallax errors become more of an issue with high power scopes. The higher the power setting, the more precise the adjustments needs to be.

I rarely need to touch the parallax / focus wheel on my hunting scopes as I keep them on 4x or 6x. Once the power setting gets above 10x I need to adjust the parallax every time the target changes distance.

I don't know how good your scope is at higher power settings but some of the mid to lower price ones I have used have not been particularly good at the top end of their magnification settings. If you can't make it parallax free then maybe try dialing it back a little.

"JoeWayneRhea"Beeser do what I do every month ... Go to a shoot and get the living hell beat out of you !!!! It's still a blast and there are some REALLY cool folks to meet , and it's been my experience that they are More than happy to help anyway they can . I'm hoping to go to EBR this next year and get my ass kicked by an entirely new set of guys
I've been checking into some gatherings or shoots close to where I'm currently located in Kingman, AZ but nothing has come up yet. I contacted a group in nearby Lake Havasu but haven't heard back from them yet. Las Vegas is also close but there doesn't seem to be an airgun enthusiast there either.
Bite the pellet and make the drive. It's not that bad of a drive and we're a pretty friendly lot. Either get yourself up way early and head out or head out the night before and spend a night. If you have camping gear, pretty sure the park next to the range has overnight camping grounds. Lots of chain hotel/motel in the area. There are two BR events a month with two matches each.

http://www.phoenixairgun.net/calendar Next BR match is the 18th. Pretty good chance you'll also meet Allan, Mark and myself.

Beeser..

Absolutely.... I try and have a small selection of rifles on hand at any given time, additionally I have all the parts for full Warranty Service, repairs, rebuilds and tuning...let me know if you come down to shoot and I will set up and extra rifle for you use in the 25 meter or 50 yard match... that way you can shoot 2 matches..
Between myself and a few other fine club members we can get you on track for next years EBR!!!
