raw bm500 with thimble. lw barrels vrs polygonal barrels

so I got my new raw 2 weeks ago and I I got both poly barrel and lw barrel.
my raw is 177 cal and have done quite the amount of shooting at 100 yards with it.
I notice that fireing the 2 barrels with the same pellets......the spond of the pellets going to the target sounds different.
I notice the cross winds with.the pellets in the lw barrel sounds louder than the same pellets with the poly barrel being used.
I'm not talking about muzzle report here.
what I'm talking about is seems the poly rifleing is smoother therefore seems the pellets cuts through the air smoother.
you can really hear the difference between the 2 at long range.

any one else notice this

all I'm saying is the sound of the lw barrel..the rifleing is more defined and engraved in the pellet.
the poly barrel has no cuts engraved into the pellet.

the lw barrel..the pellet sounds different on route to the target..the pellet sounds like is sliceing through the air.
poly barrel the pellet is quitter on route to the target and quitter going through the air..

the accuracy of both barrels at 100 yards is outstanding.im doing an 1 to 1.5 inches out doors in wind.
no bipod or fancy rests just prone over my back pack.

its a .177 running at 20 foot pounds.

I think u guys are reading it wrong... I'm getting less drag with the poly barrel
and no the pellets don't wobble. and they don't scream.

its a rapid air weapons 500bm with thimble. and is a higly tuned air rifle and hand tested by the maker and owner him self.

Ref: interesting experiment of LW vs. Poly

...just a thought...to be done obviously carefully - no wind day...try at 50 yards on bench rest. Use a chrono down range in front of your bulls eye, since you say the groupings are tight and you wont destroy your chrono - to obtain final FPS ; then if you are confident, extend the range to 100 yards and also get those readings... final terminal velocity before hitting the target with same pellets in either barrels...

PS: This is what you have ? >

How Fast? 6 Best Shooting Chronographs 2017 [Really Fast!][/QUOTE]http://tacticalairsoftmagazine.com/best-shooting-chronograph/embed/

yes that is the gun i have. but with the lrt stock in forest green.
100 yards is no problem ding chroney work with this gun and will do when i have time.

Already one of the Finest Benchrest Rifles in the World we have now added some extra features and options, All BM rifles come fitted with the ability to index the barrels for maximum optimization, new internal valves balance the power to the chosen pellets at an amazing efficiency and the change from the Stainless steel shroud to Titanium takes some unnecessary weight from the rifles while keeping the maximum strength preventing barrel instabilities, We have added the Lothar Walther Polygon rifled barrels to the options available which have proven themselves to be match winners

both barrels ..the pellets sound so different going down range.
there is absolutly a difference.

it has nothing to do with qc control... there are no flas in ither one of these barrels with the rifleing.
did you know that poly rifleing is not any thing like standard rifleing.

for one thing there are 12 groves in the lw barrel and the rifleing is square and 90 angles to the rifleing. and cuts into the pellet
the poly barrel is 6 groves and the rifleing is rounded . and don't cut into the pellet

of course this is going to make the sound of the pellets going through the air different.

@aa_limited - you misunderstand me .... Martin Rutherford does Quality Control for all his airguns before he ships them out... he personally checks the gun out at the range by taking shots to verify accuracy...and therefore when testing - he will be aware of the sound/noise from that you describe as a characteristic difference ...and he can tell you his read or take on the LW & Polygon barrel sound signatures as the pellet follows its trajectory; no one is saying they don't believe you - IM saying you should contact Martin to get his expert explanation as to what you noticed...and then post his explanation here - what & why there is this difference in sound...Comprendez ?

Yup, difference in rifling.
20fpe sounds perfect - and like a compition rig- but wouldn't it be fun some time to try perhaps some pile drivers just over 1,000fps?? Harry managed some really outstanding ( like yours ) groups with that set up.
It seems man y people either just don't know a .177 can ( and the safest of all cal. ) shoot "100 yards" or just don't want to learn to shoot that well.

John

omg i love shooting the 177 at 100 yards. i have some pile driver pellets as well. so will try those.
im planning on doing some 125 and 150 and 200 yards shooting with it soon.. yes its that accurate.
so far pessi and colke cans at 125 are easy shots with this gun.. shot at from end to end and not stood up.yes its that accurate.
at 200 yards i will stand them up.

its super fun with a 177 but a high quality rig will be needed. seems so far my raw 177 is doing well.
the 177 is a very doable cal once u get the hang out it.

my daystate airwolf accuracy is toast after 50 yards...i can easly shoot as accurate at 200 yards with my raw as i can at 100 with my ds air wolf.
