Fair points Paul. A little perspective…
I started the thread two years ago, and at the time I clearly qualified my 100Y BR experience as casual. I know Joe F is a very experienced N50 BR shooter, so I don’t imagine your comments are directed at him. There are probably other Competition EBR, RMAC, PAC,etc. shooters who have also looked at this thread and have much 100y BR experience.
My intent with the post was to ‘learn’ from other RAW .25 /.30 cal shooters, their experiences shooting BR at 100y. At the time I was struggling with my HM1000x .22 and the infamous .22 MRDs and accuracy. So, I was asking for real world user experience, which I could apply to my changing barrels from .22 to .25, or not.
Candidly, as I reread the entire post, I got the info I was after and much more. This is the main reason I like using the forum; ‘to learn from others,’ and to help as many as I can when appropriate.
I think most readers know it’s all about the wind and marksmanship, but as many have said, you need a gun that can shoot accurately too.
FWIW - I still shoot my RAW .22 HM1000X for 30-40y target challenges, N50, and ‘casual’ 100Y BR. I never did switch to .25.
