I just recently got a RAW chassis rifle and I have a question for others that have them. So far I’m not seeing the accuracy I’ve read about but I’m not ready to blame it all on the gun. What I am a little concerned about is I ran a couple 12 shot strings across my Fx chronograph and the extreme spread is 25fps. It’s averaging 941 fps with 4-5 of the 12 shots in the 920 range at random intervals. I’m wondering what kinda of velocity spread other RAW owners are seeing. I’m wondering if that’s why it seems like I have random low shots every few shots.

Have you adjusted your HS just before your Chrono shot string? I’ve noticed it takes several shots for the spring to settle in before it settles down in consistency. Did you buy the rifle used or new? If you bought it used someone could have greased or lubed the hammer improperly or over zealously and it could cause inconsistencies.

Rifle is brand new. The first string I hadn’t touched it. The second one I backed it down a little thinking that might help but it didn’t change the random spread much.

It does sound odd especially from a new gun. Call Martin Monday and please update this thread after you find out what is going on.

The regulator will take some shots to settle in but raw regs like single digit spreads usually Ive got 15 fps across like 60 shots and that would include coming off the regulator shoot it for a bit the regulators take some shooting to settle might also have to tweek the speed some depending on what your shooting for the best accuracy

I’ve put probably a couple hundred shots through so far. I’ll check it some more tomorrow. I have emailed Martin. I’ll see what I can find out and try to let you guys know. I just hope I don’t need to send it back.

If you are shooting the .22 JSB Redesigns they need to be sorted or you will get large fps swings causing inconsistent accuracy.

I’ve been shooting the redesigned pellets in .22. Are you talking sorting by weight or head size or both?

Ditto on the HS settling in.the chrono will give all kind of oddball readings for the first four or five shots. re-tuned mine to shoot JSB 18.13's at 35 ft lbs to shoot open at my club. About drove me nuts till I figured it out. Also had to adjust the regulator

I agree that the issue is probably the typical crappy range of head sizes and weights nowadays with JSB. I don't recommend messing with Martin's usually expert tune. Mine was tuned for monster redesigns at 946. I sort my pellets so I get very tight spreads an single digit std. Also, it might need fairly frequent barrel cleaning with lead remover until it gets worn in.

Did Martin set it up to shoot 22 redisigns ? If he did it should be great otherwise it was probably set up for different weight 945 fps is running on the high side for pellets also

I bought it from pyramid air. I was told it was set up for 25.39 grain pellets. The average on the one 12 shot string was 944. I’ll try some weight sorting and see if that changes anything.

Here's a string of 10 shots on mine shooting the JSB 25gr monster redesigns. It is correct that the 22 cal RAW is tuned for this pellet -an excellent choice on their part.

Try this ,turn the hammer spring all the way in till it stops. Then come out two complete revolutions and see where you are.As others have said, the gun was tuned to shoot the 22 JSB re-designed at 945-946 fps. Although you bought you gun from Pryamid, it was tuned by Martin

RSFRID how did you get 30.6 ft lbs at 946 fps with the 25.39 pellet? according to the calculator, that info equates to 50.7 ft lbs. Just curious

That's just the FX Chrony result. I always ignore it - it is rarely correct. Speed and ES and std are the only things I care about.
