RAW Rapid RAW — loud CRACK ….sound barrier

Had a little time to get a scope on received today RAW hm1000x in 22. Arrived with about 1500 psi on rifle. Shot what I had been using on zelos last night JSB 15.89. In basement mind you but crack CRACK like an echo. Said to myself sounds as loud as a standard velocity 22. Tried 2 moderators. A little better but too loud for prying neighbors. I didn’t have much more time then and put chronograph on. Oooo 1110 fps.
Damn , looked at test that came with gun. Utah air used 25.39 at 950 fps. I had about 15 of those left in one of those 4 weights test pack.
Better still sorta loud but not that CRACK.

Luckily another order came while I was out, new to me AEAs in various weights

Hahaha it happens… pretty scary when it happens for the first time since you don’t expect it from an airgun.

AEA pellets are simply better than anything else right now. 18gr, 22gr (!!!) and 25gr no matter, there better than anything else in any and all of my rifles. Same for .25 (and presumably everything else as well).

No shroud on that one. Doesnt have to break the sound barrier to make a lot of noise. The air pressure drop leaving the muzzle makes a lot of sound. So compared to a pcp with a working shroud it will always be louder. Tuning to keep it under the sound barrier will help, but I doubt that is a rifle you want to be using a lot in the basement.

True. And unless you have a 50y basement you don’t wanna use something like that there anyway cause at 25y you’ll basically need one target forever since you’re shooting the same hole over and over and over and over and over again.

Congratulations and yup, tuned for 25gr pellets out of the box! Enjoy shooting that beauty! FYI....QD_FOX on ebay sells 15 round magnetic magazines 2 for 30. If you shoot mostly single shot then a CARM is the way to go 👍.
Darn had a mag coming from Maple in Canada. Realized after putting big focus wheel on scope couldn’t insert magazine.
Just ordered 2 right side ones from Maple. Will still check eBay suggestion,
thanks

It’s been a real winter here in upstate NY. My rifle club is only about 5 miles away but damn I’ve worked outside my whole life and being retired now…..

Dont misunderstand I think its great you have a basement range, but a full power 22Cal with no shroud is going to give you tinnitus if you dont already have it from work. o_O

LOL! I too learned the hard way about scope wheels and left load magazines....mine are all right hand now except for the CARM single shot loader 👍...your'e not alone....😂

Great news - I'm excited for you and with you!

I have A .22 caliber HM1000x (chassis version) due to be delivered tomorrow morning 😁

Yeah, they're tuned for a 25 grain projectile. No moderators/silencers allowed in Canada so I know it's going to be loud. Not a problem for me.

I cleaned the snow off the shooting bench and am hoping/praying for a January thaw that would let me get sighted in. Realistically, it will be the end of March/beginning of April before it will be mild enough to shoot outside.

Enjoy your new PCP!
Cheers

Lol ... familiar having it happen just today when doing a Barrel / Caliber swap on the JSAR ( .25 cal barrel swapped to a .177 Slug barrel ) Did not check magazine finding out it had 10.3 pellets, when tested again ... Yikes 1227 fps !!!
Put some 15g slugs in @ 980 Fps. YES it was a Very loud CRACK !!!

That’s great , please post pics .
mine is shooting too fast I think, reading up on it now. 940s with 25.4 The only larger pellets I have are slug samplers.
15 shots with H&N 30 gr. One 5 shot group was as close as I can measure with a micrometer 0.22 inches the other 2 groups were around 0.4 thats total outside diameter I’m just using for my own testing . My cellar range is only 13 yards but I figure if you can’t put it in one tiny hole there not gonna do it at 50 or 100.
I’d really like to hear about yours when you set up and shoot.
Mike

The 18.3 grain have performed amazingly out of my Prod bullpup.

The 15.89 grain stack out to 40 no problem from my shortened barrel stormrider.

Theyre also clean and just look like nice lead.

Mike,

Don't worry about the accuracy - the rifle is brand new and needs to be broken in. Also, it takes a while to get used to a new PCP, especially a high performance one with a light trigger. I plan 300 to 500 shots for break in and familiarization.

Did you clean the barrel and check that the hardware is snug?

I'll post a picture once I'm done mounting the scope and fondling the rifle. 😉

Congrats on your fine airgun!

Cheers!

Oops on barrel clean and anything other than looking it over. In a rush and too anxious
PCP Airguns are all new to me. last Airgun I shot was a Crossman 760 which wasn’t mine, long long time ago.
O and the trigger ! never felt anything close to it.

13 yards is very short for a .22cal rifle shooting these speeds. I've seen larger groups at 10-15yards and then they get smaller at farther distances (25-30 yards) because I believe the heavier pellets haven't stabilized at the short distances. It's weird but I've seen it for large calibers and heavy pellets.

As far as RAW, there is no need to break it in or clean the barrel. It is tested before shipping and the barrels are cleaned too.

You just need to try different brand pellets and different weights to find the one that shoots the best at about 930fps.
