RAW REPORT

Ok my Aztec Emerald showed up and I got it mounted on the .357, the turrets were really tight to turn but after a bit they started to loosen up and the pull push locking system was also real stiff and I thought I was going to need a pliers for the focus but that started to free up also, this is where I wish Martin made a right hand mag for the 357 then I could use the focus wheel that came with the scope, I really like the glass and the eye relief is right on for me, I’ll let the scope warm up to room temp and work the turrets some more being I think the grease might be a bit cold making the turrets stiff.
I have it sighted in on my 50 yard target and I can honestly say that it’s way nice to look through then the other four I had tried now I just need to zero it in.

"Imold"Well I just got home from my Pre Op checkup and I’m good to go but anyway now I’m waiting for mail to get here with my scope,it’s 26* right now and should warm up a bit more and it’s calm out so all conditions are a go to shoot when I get my scope mounted, can’t wait and I hope the weather holds out, also had my son go out and put new shoot n see targets on my backer yesterday so I’ll be able to see where this scope is hitting better.

Yeah it is chilly here also we are only going to get up to 75* today. I shot my 30 yesterday for a while almost broke a sweat. Ha, ha.
Hynzie "I’m curious what is everyone feeling there shooting bags with I was thinking on using small plastic beads in case it got wet they wouldn’t get ruined or smell"
Pat if you plan to shoot in competition at any point make sure you check the rules. Our club does not allow for lead shot or just about anything except sand.
Do you all consider that sweater weather hahaha j/k we should see those temps around early June.

Well the turrets on the Aztec Emerald work just fine now and I took a quick 7 shots and could tell the difference having my air tank warmer and not exposed to the cold but I took 7 shots, 5 on the 5.5x and 2 on 9x, the 1st five were all within two inches of zero and the last two both hit within the orange 1” zero, so I took the caps off and moved them back to zero so when I shoot tomorrow I should(and I use that word loosely)have all my 50yards shots in the 1” circle.
For me this Aztec scope is the cats meow, I really like it and can’t say enough but it’s still new so I need to give it some time before I can realy say it’s all that and more but for now I’m a really happy airgunner...

As you know again I like pics so here I’m shooting with my new AGN shirt and then my target with my 1st 7 shots using my new Aztec Emerald scope, the turrets were still stiff when I shot this but I got my last two in orange, reset caps and do it again tomorrow with a new target, center is a inch and 2nd ring is 2 inch, should add that now my scope warmed up the turrets work really nice, good clicks and smooth. Last two shots I was working it to the center but ran out of pellets and didn’t want to shot any more being I was just enjoying how nice the scope was working.

"terrymc"Just an update on my status I should be receiving my used .22 HM1000x tonight from UPS, I show it is out for delivery!
I have another set of pickatinny rings ready and waiting for mounting my scope to it.

Terry,
Congratulation, Send pics please.
Did you get the poly barrel? Round moderator? What color stock?
Craig

Hi Craig,
Here is a picture I got from the seller.
It is a round moderator with a sporter stock in gray laminate.

Which will blend in thoroughly with my .30 LRT. LOL!

I hear you.
My 30 came with 2 right side mags and I bought 2 more.
Does he sell them for the .22? I have not found them on the website and have not bothered to call yet.

Thanks on the stock compliment, I am hoping it looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.
I still want a premium grade walnut stock at some point, but at least I can now swap stocks back and forth on my 2 RAWs as I please.
That is once UPS shows up. The always hit us late in the day/ night.
Everytime I hear a deep motor I jump up and look out the window, IS IT HEAR YET?
Damn I sound like a kid at Christmas, but then again I feel like one.

Today must be scope review day, LOL!

I received my Athlon Argos 6-24 x 50 MIL FFP IR Scope and absolutely love it! The scope build is first rate, the clicks are very positive and audible, the reticle is phenomenal, the illumination on the reticle is wonderful-and has a great range of brightnesses (which I used when running out of daylight). Once I saw where I was hitting (at 43.5 yards-without first doing a close zero) It was a matter of 3 adjustments until it was hitting spot on in the center of the target. I then shot 3 quick 5 shot groups, laying on a mat, in the warm 35F temps (yeah!) using only a 'fake' Atlas bipod (that is flimsy). With that, I was shooting 5/8 - 3/4 ctc groups. Not bad considering I'm not sure I have the scope positioned properly, and may also need to adjust my cheekpiece to better align my eye.

I forget who was asking, but the answer to 'will I lose my reticle at high magnification' is a definite 'NO'-the reticle grows with magnification, and that includes the line thickness (this is a characteristic of a FFP scope). I can see how some people would complain that the reticle is too thick at high magnifications, but I don't see it as a problem at all.

So far, I'm super pleased with the scope-and glad I made the change to consistent units between the reticle and turrets, along with FFP. The illumination on the reticle is a very nice bonus, and the reticle looks excellent-with and without illumination.

The clearness of the glass is really impressive. I'm holding off making definitive statements until I get my eye relief all setup (scope properly positioned) but, as of now, it's definitely not lacking in the least.

Seeing the reticle 'zoom' with magnification is really awesome-and not having to do mental gymnastics to figure out what magnification the scope needs to be set on, and then convert to whatever mag I want to shoot at, is a really nice, user-friendly experience.
