Today must be scope review day, LOL!
I received my Athlon Argos 6-24 x 50 MIL FFP IR Scope and absolutely love it! The scope build is first rate, the clicks are very positive and audible, the reticle is phenomenal, the illumination on the reticle is wonderful-and has a great range of brightnesses (which I used when running out of daylight). Once I saw where I was hitting (at 43.5 yards-without first doing a close zero) It was a matter of 3 adjustments until it was hitting spot on in the center of the target. I then shot 3 quick 5 shot groups, laying on a mat, in the warm 35F temps (yeah!) using only a 'fake' Atlas bipod (that is flimsy). With that, I was shooting 5/8 - 3/4 ctc groups. Not bad considering I'm not sure I have the scope positioned properly, and may also need to adjust my cheekpiece to better align my eye.
I forget who was asking, but the answer to 'will I lose my reticle at high magnification' is a definite 'NO'-the reticle grows with magnification, and that includes the line thickness (this is a characteristic of a FFP scope). I can see how some people would complain that the reticle is too thick at high magnifications, but I don't see it as a problem at all.
So far, I'm super pleased with the scope-and glad I made the change to consistent units between the reticle and turrets, along with FFP. The illumination on the reticle is a very nice bonus, and the reticle looks excellent-with and without illumination.
The clearness of the glass is really impressive. I'm holding off making definitive statements until I get my eye relief all setup (scope properly positioned) but, as of now, it's definitely not lacking in the least.
Seeing the reticle 'zoom' with magnification is really awesome-and not having to do mental gymnastics to figure out what magnification the scope needs to be set on, and then convert to whatever mag I want to shoot at, is a really nice, user-friendly experience.
