RAW REPORT

Thanks for that review Sean. I only have one FFP scope that I just got not to long ago and I really haven’t spent much time with it but like you said it’s neat how the reticle moves as you increase and decrease the magnification of the scope, I just about went with the Athlon scope but the way the Aztec was designed I couldn’t pass up trying it and I’m glad I did. If I decide to buy a nice FFP scope it will more then likely be the Athlon but for now I’ll see how the Aztec works out and go from there but I probably see another Aztec in the future for now...
I should add that I don’t see myself spending 800-900 on a scope so if I do decide to try a nice FFP it more then likely will be the Athlon due to reviews like Sean's.

"Hotbrass"terrymac nice guns.
I pulled the SS 10x off my .25 and installed an Athlon Argos 6-24x50 in Warne rings. Hope to get out this coming weekend to shoot for a spell.
Imold, you are a diehard. When it gets in the 30s, I stay indoors, with the doors closed. Around here the low 40s is cold. 100+ in the summer is normal.
It’s amazing what a person will do in order to get something done or to do something out of the norm..as long as the wind is out of the north or northwest I can have my patio door open, it does get cold on the feet tho and that’s why I covered and moved the airtank off the floor and wrapped it, it made a difference that’s for sure..

Jim,

Let me know when you get a chance to recheck the velocities with the tank 'warmed' and in the warmer temps. I wouldn't be surprised to see the velocities jum at least 10 fps, if not more even with a ambient temp in the 30-40's.

Man, after how cold it was lately, this feels like a HEAT WAVE for sure! I can't stand 100+ temps-no thank you! I always say 'you can always put on more clothes, but there are only so many layers you can take off, LOL'. And then add bugs and humidity-ugh! I'll enjoy the cold, thank you very much!

"terrymc"Just an update on my status I should be receiving my used .22 HM1000x tonight from UPS, I show it is out for delivery!
I have another set of pickatinny rings ready and waiting for mounting my scope to it.

Terry,
Congratulation, Send pics please.
Did you get the poly barrel? Round moderator? What color stock?
Craig

Hi Craig,
Here is a picture I got from the seller.
It is a round moderator with a sporter stock in gray laminate.

Which will blend in thoroughly with my .30 LRT. LOL!

terrymc I just came across the pics of your .22. I bought my HM1000 .177 from the same seller a couple months ago (recognized the paneling in the pic he sent). If your gun had been an LRT I'd have sold a kidney and got both of them. He' seems to be a good guy and takes very good care of his guns. Hope you're as happy with yours as I am. Uj

My 1st shot of the day was 807 then the next was 846 so I have no clue why the big jump but here are the basics,it would of been way better if shot 1 wasn’t so week.
Hi - 856
Lo - 807
Av - 844
Es - 49 thanks to the 1st shot
Sd -9
so it did pick up from my 1st string but that 807 is a head scratcher or a fart....
My female connection on my regulator was leaking air but not enough to change the 230 bar on the HMx it was more of a annoyance then anything,I need to look around I think I have another fitting someplace.

Imold. Thats happened to me several times first shot low then the rest perfect right where it should be I recently watched an aeac video with Steve I think he was shooting his Cricket yeah he was and every time he would fill it he would fire off a shot just I don't know why you did it but I guess was trying to settle the reg he explains why he does it but I'll have to watch the video again

It did the same yesterday 1st was low, I’ll shoot some more and check it later with the Chrono,I only have 1 tin through it and I should get at least 2 or so before I do a Chrono string. I know it will get better and I’m thinking 846-856 will be the norm when all said and done.
I have shot another 42 pellets today and the temp is 34* with a slight breeze and it’s still keeping all shots within the 2” ring,it’s more of a big hole about 1.5” so the accuracy is there just need to stop shaking so much but that is my meds I believe so not much I can do except probably shoot off a solid table. The more I shoot the more I like and I bet my Wildcat is getting jealous hahaha....

So I did a little research and it appears the safest way to do this is to find out from Martin exactly what he finishes the guns with I guess different finishes can clean as can really mess things up and Cloud them I need to speak to Martin about the stock I ordered I'll give him a jingle tomorrow and I'll also ask him about the stock finished in what's the best to use to clean it with

Same thing happens for me, except the opposite-my first shot comes in a bit hot, then the rest settle down. Not totally sure why, except that my gun is likely still cooling down from coming from inside the house. Just discard the first shot and see where the rest average out-that's what I've had to do to evaluate the BC's of pellets, especially in cooler weather.

Busy day today for me regarding airgunning here in WI. I took the day off to go speak at the public hearing that was scheduled for today in the state capital, but before I left, I couldn't help be enjoy the nice weather by checking the BC's of the JSB heavies (again) and the H&N Barracuda's outdoors, since we were all the way up to 30F!

After that, I showered, got dressed and hit the road for the capital. I spoke, as did several other people on the bill-ALL of us that spoke were in favor of passing the bill, and there was NO opposition (keep that quiet until this one makes it into law!). I'm now hopeful that you'll see air rifles be included in the Wisconsin gun deer season-who knows, possibly as soon as THIS year even! We all went to voice our displeasure with the wording of what weapons would qualify.

Then I got home and grabbed the gun (with bipod) again to go shoot some groups at 50 yards. I shot 4 of them today, and they were basically all abou 5/8" groups, but had the potential to be more like 3/8" group. Below is one that I had going at about .250" ctc (through 4 shots)-then I got mental about it, realizing I had a great group going, and threw the last shot completely-argh! Yep, the one down to the right was me getting mental alright!

Overall, a vacation day well spent on airgunning!

So I mentioned that I would withhold comment regarding the glass on my new Athlon Argos scope until I had a chance to use it a bit more. Well, today I had more of a chance and can say I am really impressed with the clarity of the optics on the scope! The clarity really came through when I was doing some BC testing at 50 yards. Before, with my Hawke scope set to 32 Power, I could read the chronograph speeds as i shot over it from afar-but I had to smdouble check to make sure I had written them down correctly. I was concerned about ‘only’ having 24 power on the new Argos scope. Well, I can reassure you that I could read the chrony probably better on the Argos as I could on the Hawke, despite the lower magnification! The scope is really rather clear, and the reticle is simply amazing too-very easy to focus on. The illumination (and levels of illumination) are great! Really impressed with this scope!
