RAW REPORT

As promised I got a chance to do a couple pictures.

30 cal. LRT in front and the 22 Sporter Stock in back.

So I got home in time to shoot tonight. for you easterners I broke a sweat at 6 pm we are down to 69*.
Back on track, this gun is great.

The conditions were bad this afternoon, with a storm coming in the winds were gusting and changing directions constantly.
So there were no magic groups that set the record books.
However what stood out was how well it did in the conditions and how much fun it was to shoot.

I have shot FX, RAW, BSA and Air Arms rifles and this new addition is a blast.
I was not sure how I would like the non Adjustable stock but the cheek rest lines up well with my Hawke 10-50 scope with Eagle Vision adjustable rings.
After sighting in the scope, I expected a good bit of scattering of the shots due to the shifting winds.
There were some, but much less than I expected under the shifting winds.

The negative I find is that the trigger is too light even for my taste, it is set so light it is almost indiscernible for the second stage.
I would wager it is set at 6 oz. or less, my 30 was set at 6 oz and it was clearer than this to the break point.

The seller was good about disclosing any negatives, it needs a new gauge, and possibly a regulator.
I did a long shot string down from 200 bar to where it fell off the regulator at 95 bar.
The only issue is the shot string declines from the 890's slowly dropping to the 860's at around shot 94.
All shots were done with JSB 18.1 Exacts.
Then it clearly drops off the regular at 95 and quickly plummets to 811 by shot 108.
All this just showed me the previous owner was on to something with the possibility of a bad regulator.

We shall see, hopefully the regulator can be serviced and work correctly.

I will keep you all up to speed.

"Imold"My 1st shot of the day was 807 then the next was 846 so I have no clue why the big jump but here are the basics,it would of been way better if shot 1 wasn’t so week.
Hi - 856
Lo - 807
Av - 844
Es - 49 thanks to the 1st shot
Sd -9
so it did pick up from my 1st string but that 807 is a head scratcher or a fart....
My female connection on my regulator was leaking air but not enough to change the 230 bar on the HMx it was more of a annoyance then anything,I need to look around I think I have another fitting someplace.
Same thing happens for me, except the opposite-my first shot comes in a bit hot, then the rest settle down. Not totally sure why, except that my gun is likely still cooling down from coming from inside the house. Just discard the first shot and see where the rest average out-that's what I've had to do to evaluate the BC's of pellets, especially in cooler weather.
I’m going to shoot through another tin or two then do another 21 shot string and see where I’m at but I’m pretty sure I’ll be in the 846-856 area and that will be ok with me being it puts it in the 130ft/lb area.
On another note it’s warmer now at 35* then it was this afternoon and now they are saying we could get up to 6” of snow with 40 mph winds starting tomorrow evening...Gota Love Minnesota hahaha...
Im hoping to move my target out to 75 yards tomorrow after I go to town and get some more shoot n see targets, all my others are at my other property unfortunately..
Im really getting addicted to the RAW, is that a bad thing ?

Well I got my 75yard target set up and now I’m ready to see how the Aztec does a bit farther out, next will be 100yards. It's 32* out now and the lake has about 4” of water on top of the ice for about 40 feet out from shore, hard packed snow with slush under it and every step I broke through,it wasn’t fun for me, anyway here is my 75 yard frozen lake ice Range.

I posted this question as a separate topic in the pellets section, but since it mainly applies to RAWs, I figured I'd post it here as well:

Question: Has anyone pushed the .25 cal JSB heavies through a 'non-polygon' Lothar Walther barrel at speeds of 880-950 fps? What were the results with the accuracy?

I'm asking because, before I sent my HM1000X back to RAW to have it converted from a 50 fpe powerplant (in .25 cal) to a 60 fpe powerplant, I was pushing JSB 'lites' to 950 with excellent accuracy, but was told to push the heavies in the 900 fps range, I would need to go to a polygon barrel for them to shoot well. But I started thiniking about it and it seems like, if the lites grouped well at 950 fps, then the heavies should do as well or better at 900 +/- 50 fps or so-at least that's my thinking that I want to confirm by putting my 'non-polygon' LW barrel on and trying it out. But since it's windy right now, and I'm getting home after the sun is down, I figured I'd ask if anyone has experience pushing the pellets to these type of speeds through the standard, rifled, LW barrel.

Let me know your experiences or things you've witnessed / read.

Thanks,

Sean

Why not try the slugs that are available? I bought slugs on Ebay. I have not shot them yet, but with better BC, they might be a game changer.

Just curious about my raw .30 and why the groups were so tight! I just ordered the peletgage and it arrived today. Decided if I was going to put some pellets through my gun I might as well rack up some data. Did not do chrony yet because this thing has less than 50 shots down the barrel. What I did find was that these .30 pellets are super consistent in head size. First 50 was at 7.65 and did not have any other head sizes. Besides the gun being accurate, the pellets straight out of the tin are consistent. I dumped 3 tins in a bowl and washed it. So it was not all out of the same tin. 95yds with groups I was getting. I see no reason to change anything so far.
