RAW REPORT

"SMH77"
"Imold"Well the Checks in the mail for the HMx now it’s another waiting game but at least this time it’s going to be a short wait....Now I need to read some more threads on the 30 and learn some more..
Congrats! Now go order some ammo to feed the beast!
Hahaha yep way ahead of ya Sean I have 4 tins of 44.75s due to arrive today with a New Aztec Emerald Scope, they are both on the mail truck for delivery today but I have a feeling that I should order some more..

"Mick-VA"Unusual finding for the day. For whatever reason, my .25 with poly barrel 60fpe tune seems to like H&N grizzly 31gr pellets. 896fps and 55 fpe.
Never used them before today. Have never found a gun they shot extremely well past 80 yards with. My 60 FPE tune Bobcat likes them ok but gets a flyer occasionally.
Target 98 yards 1.5 inch steel spinner. Light 3 ish mph right to left wind. Holding 3/4 inch right (edge of target). 18 shots and 17 hits.
i need to play around with these more with paper, measurements and BC calc. Might make a very good distance hunting pellet for the RAW.
Anybody eles shot these yet?
Just for comparison, the H$N Barracuda 31gr shoot at 936 or 60fpe. JSB MK1 @ 905 and MK2 @ 910 fps.
The Grizzly seem to have more friction in barrel and shoot slower but drops significantly less at distance. With a 48 yard zero drops 2.9 Mils (10.47 inch) exactly at 98 yards.. that's a high .070ish BC??

Mick, I have a tin of these H&N Grizzer`s. When the rain stops and the wife is done shopping, I will give these a try from my HM1000x..

Well, all I can say is WOW!!! I finally tried the Mk II pellets through my Polygon barrel, in the waning sunlight for the day today. At first I wasn’t all that impressed-then I realized my parallax wasn’t set correctly. Once I dialed that in, and learned to not shoot when I had scope shadow evident, the pellets were stacking in the .125-.25” CTC range! Mind you: it is 37F out right now, and the winds are blowing at 22 mph ssw, with gusts over 30 mph!

Here’s a sample target: the first shot I shouldn’t have taken because I had scope shadow-I should have adjusted my eye position. The remaining 4 I corrected that-and WOW! Same thing for the target down lower-first two shots my eye position was off, threw one left, and one right. Then I fixed my eye position and the remaining 3 shots were at .125” ctc. All groups are 5 shot at 50 yards.

4 shots: .25”

This is all with me laying laying on my deck, shooting from a bipod too...

Once I practice better shooting discipline (ensuring sight picture), this thing is going to be drilling it!

Thanks. Normally I wouldn’t get excited about a group on paper like either of those, but honestly, the first shot (and first two shots for the other group) were where I couldn’t figure out why the focus wasn’t quite clear, and then the 3 & 4 shots were all consecutive-dropping one right on top of the other. It was really something to see.

I forgot who it was that urged me to try the Mk II pellets before swapping my barrel out, but I’m sure glad they did, because this barrel seems to love those pellets!

I also found that, now that the power is a higher, the gun seems to like me pulling it in tighter to my shoulder-a firmer Contact. I’ve heard the same is true for .30 cal also.

it should be nice tomorrow for me as well-in the mid 40’s. Will be doing some more chainsaw work, clearing Buckthorn from the forest.

Well guys was not able to put some data on my gun. Weather sucked, rained throughout the entire time. Could no wait to shoot so I set up a shooting shack at my house. This at 75yds while raining and light breezes. I don' think I ever seen results during rain. Would have expected horrible shot groups. 27 rounds went through this hole at 75yds. The top whole is my friends .177. For some odd reason he decided to shoot that one shot on my paper. 3 shots opened her up to 2 inches. But it was raining decent. But 3 shots that' all!!! During rain!!!! Wth!!!!

23 of 27 shots in an inch during rain!!!! Today was a surprise. Did not get any data though.

Groups weren’t quite as good as I wanted this morning, but not terrible either. I don’t sort my ammo (yet), so perhaps there’s something to be had there-who knows. 50 yards, 5 shots. Didn’t measure them yet. Polygon barrel, Mk II pellets.

Later I put on my .25 non-Polygon barrel on and tried both versions of the heavy peeets through it-I seemed to get tight groups, but inexplicable flyers-wasn’t sure why-if it was the barrel, parallax setting, or what. I didn’t end up being as impressed as I expected. Perhaps a good cleaning of both barrels is in order since the polygon barrel has never been cleaned, and it’s been a LONG time for the LW barrel. Or perhaps the alignment of the transfer port was off, affecting the shot to shot consistency?

I ended the day doing a ‘speed swap’ back over to the .30 cal setup. Despite making a couple mistakes, and asking my youngest daughter to double check the alignment of the barrel before tightening the barrel into the block, I did the swap in 10 minutes flat-and could have done it in half that time. Simple!

in any case, it was great to get three of my kids behind the trigger when it was setup with the polygon barrel. They were all smacking the spinners, every shot, out at 70 yards-and having a blast in the process. Here’s my youngest two...
