RAW REPORT

thanks Craig got 3 months left to pay for my 25 cal,,im 25% of the way there ,,i was told 12 weeks its been 4 weeks ,,but they will time it based on how close my payoff is ...unless i get some side work,,, 12 more weeks ,,which is perfectly fine ,,,i was going through joe brancatos facebook account ,and i think it was early december he had 30 cal HM 1000X on sale $1899,,first time i ever came across a sale on RAW rifles,

Thanks guys-yeah, my youngest daughter (in the Photo) has already made it clear that this is ‘her gun’ and I need to ‘get my own’! On that note, she dragged me outside this morning to shoot the .30 cal.

so I sighted in and shot a quick 5 shot group at 50 yards: first 4 shots were 3/8” ctc, the 5th opened the group (upper left shot) to 1/2” ctc! Impressive!

I spent the rest of the day prepping for summer. Setting swingers out at 45, 65, and 75 yards. I'm working on getting use to my new scope ( Athlon 8-34 BTR Tactical, FFP) that is Mil reticle with Mil adjustments on the turrets. Frozen ground forced me to take a cordless drill along to pre-drill holes for the swinger posts. LOL

That said I set zero at 45 and was bounding around adjusting the scope for the other distances to prove out the adjustment accuracy. Now that I've proven the scope adjusting is accurate I will just use the mil lines on the reticle when shooting. Had a good time shooting today at 50 degrees.

Differences between.25 cal barrels (pictures below). .25 cal LW barrel (non-polygon) was purchased 7/2016, overall length is 29-1/4”, barrel length is 23.8”, moderator length is 12.5”. .25 cal polygon barrel was pourchased 12/2017, overall length 28-7/8”, barrel length is just about spot on at 23”, moderator length is 14”.

transfer ports are different shapes and sizes-LW is single hole, polygon is rounded rectangular port.

Cleaned them both (wrong sized patches-only good up to .22 cal, so I have to run and get patches for .25 and .30 cal. Improvised by doubling and tripling up on .22 cal patches): LW was not all that dirty, polygon barrel considerably more so (not equivalent number of shots through them).

"Rey"Thanks guys. Shooting in the rain was weird. Pellet about 1/2inch in any direction. Shot better and more predictable when a wind was present. No wind: I wasn't sure which way it was going. But it was still good enough to hit 1inch spinners all day.

I never really shot in the rain. I shot in snow the day that I received mine but was still trembling with excitement from having it in my hands that I don't even remember if I was hitting anything.

"crgabel"Nice try Imold, We know you are frantically ordering accessories for your new .30 cal. LOL
Craig
Ya ya I have pellets now and for some reason my scope got held up in West Fargo ND at the USPS so now it should be here Tuesday the way it looks and Hopefully my HMx will be here Friday I hope, the weather is going to be nice this next week so that’s a plus, the negative is I’ve had to replace my 2 Propane regulators on my propane line and Saturday had to have my Burner replace in my furnace, I’ve been fighting a heating issue since last Monday and now all is fixed, cost me about Half of another RAW but family first...Also finally got my Bar room all cleaned up and stocked. It’s been more of a storage room for a long time and finally got tired of it messed up, still needs a bit more cleaning but now it looks like a Bar.

So in the continuing theme of making Imold feel lazy. ;)

I shot my first match with the RAW 22 today.
Got up at 4 AM, planned on 5 but woke up early.
Got everything loaded in the truck drove an hour to the range for early practice.
I arrive and it is freezing especially for Phoenix, 36*.

Made a bad call on which lane to shoot, it is important as the wind there does vortexes close to the berm which I of course
chose to shoot there. Forgot my wind gauge, so I was shooting off of other wind flags that have totally different wind patterns.
(Rio Salado is always windy so they are important!)

So I do some practice and I can see that it is doing pretty good, (the gun not me)
The Match starts, and my results were OK not as good as my practice before the match OF COURSE.
I am OK with it still improving and a long way to go I shot a 697, 11X. That works out to an average shot of 9.3.

Because it was cold (Phoenicians are thin blooded) very few showed up.
3 of us shot open class, only 2 got scored as 1 had a technical issue, so technically I shot second. LOL

Bottom line I had fun and improved my score from the last event by 30 points.

IMPORTANT part, I had a blast!

Thanks guys,
Yeah I already know areas where I can improve.

I know it is a learning process and most of the shooters here are very very good and have shot the
local competition (and EBR) for a long time.

So I go, I shoot, I have fun, make new friends, and improve.
As the competitors out there know it is a lot different than on your HOME court.

"crgabel"Terry,
Not a bad showing. It's got to be nice to even have a spot to shoot competition somewhat near by. At least your improving from the last match. From what i can tell i would have a 6 hour drive to the nearest event. Good luck with the next match.
Craig

Yeah Craig it is nice to have somewhere that you can compete locally.
My drive is only an hour each way. 49 miles to be exact.

Also it is good to live where you can learn from many top notch shooters, several of which are on this forum.
