Hey Pat, This is what I’m using at home and out on the bench, I use both these set ups off the bench but when I zero in I prefer to use the Caldwell Lead sled with weights on it and the other set up just for shooting steel targets and what not, I have a Caldwell field pod but don’t use it that much and now I have that new portable bench Santa brought me for Christmas.

Hynzie,
Congrates on the game... I use an aluminum Bald Eagle rest that I removed the cable and replaced with a carborator screw mod. It works well with my RAW. It’s very stable and makes fine adjustments. I think it was around $150. There are better rest for bench rest for competition that adjust very quickly for windage and sighters, but they’re a lot more.

I like what you did with those Clays!! Never thought of painting mine, thanks for the idea.

I also use the bald eagle slingshot aluminum.
Pat if you are getting a rest buy the bald eagle before they are all gone.
From what i have seen they are being discontinued.
They are a fraction of the original price and about the same as the caldwell br.
They use to be 3 to 4 hundred and now they sell for $165.

And absolutely do the cable removal modification.
I flipped the table around on mine so the adjustment screw is on the left easier reach for a right handed shooter.

Yeah I spent a lot of time at Metrocenter when I was a teenager chasing girls.
It was a good place back then, not so good anymore.
The area I grew up around 40th st and Thunderbird went downhill also.

My best friend use to work at the Garcia's on Cavecreek road.
It is a small world.

This town has changes sooo much from those day.

4.5 million bodies here now (and most of them crabby), and that is only the ones that want to be counted.
When I moved to Ohio for 15 years back in 88 it was only 1.2 million.

Wayne and Terry were just expanding out their Garcia restaurant when I stopped working for them and moved back to Mn, they also wanted to build in Denver, Albuquerque and Minneapolis. Used to hang out at the Mini Golf Complex and do the same, ya I heard it’s a slum mall now...We also used to go to South Mountain once in awhile to watch the sun set....Do Slid Rock and a few other cool things..
Yep Times Have Changed..

Terry,

I too have a Bald Eagle rest (aluminum slingshot?), but haven’t shot off it in a while. I don’t like that cable-do you have any info (links, pictures, etc) on the mods to make to the rest? I would like to make the elevation and Windage more usable-then I may actually use my rest more.

FYI: I have only shot laying on a mat, with either my cheap imitation Atlas Bipod, or my friend’s real Atlas. I should probably drag out the shooting bench and rest to see what the polygon barrel and others can really do. As it is now, I watch my heart rate through my scope as I practice shooting prone from the mat for all the groups I’ve posted.

Having said that, even shooting that way, these guns are so accurate that I will likely make shooting spinners at 70 to 100 yards more challenging by taking off the bipod and practicing shooting ‘real’ prone (or kneeling). I often shoot them kneeling at 50 yards to practice for hunting chipmunks. But I’ll wait for the weather to warm up a bit and maybe drag out the shooting bench and BE rest.

Oh, BTW: I just got some bigger patches and cleaned the .30 cal with a pull through (fish line): that was the dirtiest of all 3 barrels! It was really filthy...
