RAW REPORT

Martin claims that hm1000X .25 with polygonal set at 60 ftlb also shoots 25 grain jsb extremely well.

As per his experienc the 25 grain pellet flies at around 990fps and still gives 1" groups at 100 yards.

I wish the owners of this gun to test at that high fps.

It automatically gives such high fps when 25 grain is shot instead of 34 grains.

Please do share your experience.

Don’t have much experience in the .22 (or .30!) so just trying to get input?, wasn’t grouping well that’s why I checked FPS, shot barrel after cleaning ( Dirty but seen worse! ) also know if you push these to fast will lead up the barrel plus can cause pellet instability! These were jsb 18.1, will try some of the new 25 gr. Soon!, thanks guys

Umair, From my first hand experience, when the .25 cal is setup to shoot the heavies through the polygon barrel (shooting about 905 fps @ 85-90F, and about 62 fpe), they shoot the heavies very well (see my numerous groups posted). However, in the same setup, the 25.4 grain JSB's shoot terribly-like 1.5-2" groups at 50 yards. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure Martin wouldn't say the 'lite' (25.4 grain) pellets will shoot well through the polygon barrel at those kind of speeds-so I'm guessing there was some misunderstanding on your communications with him on that topic.

If you want to see the results, in detail, visit the testing report I posted on this subject (the HM1000x, .25 cal, 60 fpe setup through the LW Polygon barrel)-it shows the muzzle velocities, energy, BC, and group sizes of both the JSB Heavies, JSB Lites, H&N Baracudas, H&N Baracuda Hunter Extremes, and the Polymags. Here's the link to the review with the polygon barrel: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/25-cal-ammo-shootout-6-pellets-bcs-groups-and-other-stuff-measured/

Note: those 12 shot groups are shot at 50 yards for all groups. The temp was 9C (so about 48F)-meaning that 984 fps at 48F is probably topping 1000 fps at 85-90F temps (yes, it varies with temperature-I have the data to prove it...).

And if you want to see how the LW 'traditionally rifled (non-polygon)' barrel compares with no other changes (ambient temp is a bit higher, so that affected the BC's, here the link for that report: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/25-cal-ammo-shootout-part-ii-ballistics-through-lw-rifled-barrel-bcs-etc/

Again, all groups were at the same distance (50 yards).

If you can share youe e mail address, I can send you the exact wording of HIS statement. He may be right but all guns might not perform that well.

Lets exchange our e mail addresses.

Further on Pro Chrono, my gun shoots 34 grain at 905 fps and 25 grains at 1010 fps. While HE said that 25 grain fly at around 980 fps.

I hope that if I tune it down to 980 fps, it might perform as well as he has advised.

Here's a tip for this group that I'm not sharing with everyone on the forum-just those of you on the RAW report: if you go to www.dvor.com (Optics Planet subsidiary) they currently (for the next 4 days) have the Hawke 6-24x56 mm FFP scope listed (I can't believe it-since it's a NEWLY released scope!) listed for $385! I bought mine from Amazon when it first came out for $539.99. The lowest price I've seen it for anywhere (aside from the DVOR deal) is $499.99 from www.bhphotovidel.com. This is a chance to save a lot of cash on an excellent scope. The scope also comes with the sunshade and 4" sidewheel as standard accessories in the box too.

You have to sign up to become a member of the site, but it's worth it for the savings.

I couldn't resist buying another one for my son's Wildcat (that I still have to buy) since it was such a great deal on a great scope.

Yeah, Jim, I did a double take when I saw it-I couldn't believe the listed it! I confirmed the part number on the Hawke website and then ordered one for my son's gun build. I almost think it's a typo, but they should be honoring it. Caveat: they are out of stock at the moment and expect them to actually ship in 1-3 weeks (which is fine with me, I'm in no rush). They also don't appear to be charging cards until the product has shipped (so you've got 1-3 weeks to figure out how to break the news to your wife, LOL).

Well gents weve hit the 50000 views mark and have a great core of guys .not sure if anything can be done .it would be great to be able to categorize. The wealth of knowledge thats come through this thread . Again I don't know if it's possible to do any of this but it'd be great to be able to separate the information into different categories like the information Sean is posted on ballistic calculations and the different scopes different pellets different guns pictures Barrel swapping the whole nine yards if anyone's got any ideas well it was a thought anyway HYNZIE
