Looks great Jim! I really like how that turned out... What an AWESOME color!

It sure is nice not having to worry if it’s going to get marked up now, should of clear coated it when I go it. I zeroed in at 50 yards with JSB 81.02s and had no issues out to 100 yards after I figured out my hold over but I’m going to rezero it at 75 yards, I also shot a couple 100gr slugs from MrHollowpoint that Pat gave me(thanks Pat) and at my 50 yard zero they hit about 2 - 2.5 inches low but were right on target.

Mick,

How old is your 357?

Is it a high power variant?

I only ask as like Imold I thought the high power variants had a different valve body which included a larger plenum area

necessitating a slightly larger action.

The earlier ones I know was the same valve body but I am not sure with the later ones.

Imold at 127 ft lbs. it is clear you have a high power 357!

Hey Guys: while out in Phoenix the other week I met Mark B in person and asked him that question directly. He clearly stated to me that the actions for all the HM1000x will fit the same stock. I clarified regarding the high powered version of the .357 cal-he stated that it would fit, no problem as it was the same external dimensions for the action.

For some reason there has been some confusion about the high powered version (I had the same confusion too) of the .357 cal.

Hope that helps?

Sean

@imold. Yes I have tried the .357 in all 4 of my stocks. It is the internals of the .357 which is different.

I have the .25, .30, and .357 and all 4 stocks work on all 3 actions. Sporter, 2 thumholes, and an LRT

I appreciate that Mick, I’ve been lead to believe something else but if you’ve have physically put a 357 action in a 25 or 30 HMx stock that’s good enough for me so now I can keep a eye out for a used HMx lrt or thumbhole stock.

Many Thanks..

Teatherd at 3200 psi so I was about 400 psi below 250 bar and I was getting 839-840-840-841-841-835-841 but I might of shot a bit fast being I was shooting at AR plates at different distances so it was fire and cock fire and cock with no real fill time, next time I go out I’ll slow down and let there be about 10-15 seconds between shots and see if fps becomes more consistent. I might try it at full 250 just to see what FPS it will do topped.

That’s what I was lead to believe, that the body was bigger so it would not fit down into a 25 or 30 stock.

Could be an impression from this note on the Rapid website.

"A note: the .357 action, magazine and barrel will not interchange with any other RAW or Theoben rifles, all these components have been machined wider and thicker to allow for the larger ammunition. "

Duh, yeah-THAT was the issue! The magazine's were thicker than the other calibers to accomodate the longer ammunition, so the machining slot, placement for the barrel, and the magazine are different for the .357 cal. Thus you can NOT interchange barrel / probe / magazine setups with the lower calibers (like I do between .25 and .30 caliber). Makes sense now (I seem to have been told that at one point and just simply forgot...).

Overall action dimensions should be the same (outer dimensions) so the action - stock combo's should be interchangable within the HM1000x lineup (but not with the HM1000 lineup).
