RAW REPORT

Craig the gun I have coming is a TM1000 .177 with a poly bbl. I don't hunt with airguns so my collection consists of several .17s including a HM1000 and an old Daystate CRX, both of which are very accurate and fun to shoot at my home 55yd range. I'm shooting 10.34s out of these but Martin strongly recommended going with the poly bbl and 13.4s in the new gun. I plan to use it in HFT and he is seeing good results with this combination. So, I have some things to play with but another 6-8 weeks in the wait won't be easy. Uj

aa_limited, I thought all LW airgun barrels were Button rifled not cut rifled?, POLY or regular Land and groove?

Yes LW regular and poly barrels both are button drawn

….yes but martin also offers a cut rifled barrel too in .22 cal, how ever he does not offer the cut barrel in any other cal. just the 22.

but you have to pay more for a cut barrel.

Not trying to sound arrogant or maybe my info is incorrect?, but do believe that if that quote is refering to the Benchmark barrel option that was offered at one time, I do believe Benchmark barrels are button rifled barrels? Also it is possible Martin commissioned specific cut rifle barrels manufactured to his specs? Kreiger, Brux, etc. The only reason I’m persuing this is my fondness for this method of producing a barrel ( I know many say all methods will produce excellent barrels, they are correct! ) I just go off on tangents...

LW Poly barrel shooting 13.4 gr at 20 fpe is awesome.

I totally agree, I just never even realized Martin offered other options in barrels?, I have an inquiry into him now, I just really have an infinity for a cut rifled barrel!, can aquire one my self but would like some specific’s such as choke, twist, internal dimensions etc. if he or anyone else will divulge this info! Probably need to talk to AZ? ( probably all for nothing!, considering I can’t shoot up to the standards of my LW barrels...)

Man I sure hope this poly bbl/heavy pellet combination works out. Ranging may be a bigger challenge but I have some good scopes (SIII, Nikko Diamond, Hawke ED) so I think I can get used to that after a lot of trigger time. Nomo I can really relate to your "shooting up to the standards" comment. This is my first year of HFT and I'm just trying to learn and get better. It's good to know that when something goes wrong it ain't the fault of the equipment. Uj

UJ, All I can say is keep shooting, watch conditions/ flags learn what there telling you, keep very good records of conditions velocity’s, pellet (preferences & lots!)& DON’T get discouraged, keep shooting... now remember I don’t shoot FT, mainly BR! (TRYING TO SHOOT BR!)

You guys are correct with wind and conditions. I come from a Hi-Power silhouette background and am really enjoying the challenges of air guns. Reloading is much easier. LOL.

As a rule when I shoot I pay close attention to wind when I get a shot that strays from the POA I then assess the conditions during that shot and can most times realize that wind was the issue. It's been a year for me know and I think that I'm about 1/4 of the way from really getting it. As I'm out crow hunting I have learned to watch the trees for wind direction and speed with great results. When I started I fought with myself a lot with the occasional bad group blaming it on me but as I look back it was most likely conditions that caused it.

Now as I feel the gun may be the issue I head back to a spot where i can shoot indoors (old factory) 40 yards to verify my baseline again. I shoot new guns indoor to establish a base line before I even take them outside with good results.
