RAW REPORT

Yes, every barrel does have it’s unique characteristics, you do basically what I do now,but at first with the LW poly’s I was deep cleaning basically every card because I thought it was more accurate this way?, but learned that I was basically going through a accuracy curve each card or session!? (I have to learn the hard way the only way I know I guess!) and have been doing a little experimenting as of late because of some inconsistent performance (poly barrels only) I was using same process as my 12 groove and my Steyr barrels, but have changed things up on the poly’s? So far it’s encouraging? Have the whole winter to sort it out!

Well because I was up! And curious about a couple things?,thought I would do a 50 shot chrono. String: BM-500 w/poly barrel all stock from Martin, Indoors 70deg.,13.4gr jsb 4.52 head dia. Not weighed straight from tin! 1st shot clean barrel = 802fps, 2nd=809, 3rd 814, next 47 shots were from low of 811fps to high of 822fps! For an E.S. of 11fps I’m not counting first 2 shots as I normally fire @ least 3- pellets to season barrel after cleaning before shooting my first card! As a side note I fired two cleaning pellets (together) after the 50 original chrono shots, then fired a 10 shot group @ 16.5yds, Thought this curious also first 25 group on (right) some vertical! Next 25 (left) more Horizontal!, last 10 a hint of vertical? Now will say first 50 not to concerned about group size!

Yes Sean, I’m probably a little late to the party... but am finding that the poly’s seem to shoot more consistent- fps anyway “seasoned” not sure I want to say dirty @ this point? Now something else I am seeing or think I am? Is consistent fps not always translating into same accuracy on paper? Lots if variables here I know!, still gathering DATA & trying to interprete this information to the best of my ability? Lots for me to learn and I know many others, Martin, Mike, owner of Thomas airguns have been all through this way before my feeble attempt!,but I’m learning... slowly! Also want to make this clear, many, many other competitors much more knowledgeable than I (ken Hicks for one) and about 30 others... ( Not the Utube wunna-be’s either!) I could name but never actually met, these shooters we could all learn much from, if I could know 50% of what they’ve learned competing I’d be a Rich man indeed...

my raw is a 500bm 177. my findings are this.

gun as sent to me from martin the es was very low for a 120 shot string. less than 30 fps.. for first 100 shots it was under 10 fps. gun was doing 915fps with jsb 10.3s

then year later I loverd the hs tension to 890 and both my es and sd got really bad. and accuracy seemed all over the place. but I haven't had a chance to check for accuracy or

es and sd now that I have the hammer spring turned up to where martin had set it . I will let you guys know when I get a chance and post my findings here. hopeing it goes back to normal? I should have left the hs tension where is was!! but we all know us raw guys love to tinker

The BM-500’s I believe, Martin sent them out to shoot 810-815 w/ 13.4’s to make USARB-HV requirements of 20ftlbs or under! Both of mine are anyway, but he also knew what class I would be shooting in, still I believe all BM’s were set up this way unless they were for a different class? etc. now I’ve never adjusted Regs on any of these guns or TM for that matter, the HMx I backed off H.S. Tension a little that’s all and everything settled in very quickly and consistently.
