RAW REPORT

Good info Umair, thanks for sharing. I wonder is adding additional (small holes) to the outside of the shroud (like on the DonnyFL version) in addition to the fet you installed would further help quiet down the sound? Just a random thought...

May be sir but I didn't take risk of spoiling the outer look of the shroud since I am far far away from Martin and it may be difficult for me to get a replacement shroud if it got ruined.

In fact the one that I developed locally is more silent as it has larger area and more space for felt.

See the difference, the white one is developed here locally.

I received my DonnyFL Emperor from SPAW tonight.

Right out of the box no mods it shot great. It ends up 8" longer but i can deal with that.

Db before (stock from RAW was at 97 Db

With the Emperor installed it came in at 59 Db. that's a 38 Db reduction.

Craig

Man Craig,

And I thought my modified moderator was long and silent.

This takes it up a notch.

So I am still waiting on the BMx stock for my .22 poly, and I have gotten bored as often happens with me.

So at the moment I have 2 stocks the LRT and the Sporter.

I love the LRT, in fact if the BM stock was not such an advantage in Benchrest shooting I would have ordered another one.

The Sporter not so much. It always looked clunky and the forearm just did not fit the profile of the stock especially in the trigger guard area.

I already hogged out the right side of the trigger guard so it did not rub against my trigger finger when I was shooting, it was a definite improvement. But maybe just not enough.

So yesterday I sat down and did some measurements on the LRT and fired up the band saw and a bunch of other equipment.

Here is what I have come up with so far.

So I had to cut not only the trigger well but trim a large amount of heft off of the bottom of the stock to lean it out. It is probably for shooting Field Target, however it is very thick and if someone wanted to shoot Field Target they should bget the factory hamster anyways. You can also see in the first picture how much further forward the trigger well extended on the backside which is part of why it use to hit my finger. In the next shot I have trimmed it back and and contoured it to match the LRT.

And now here it is both sides with the remainder of the finish removed and all the sanding done.

I am now in the process of restippling the grip area as the stripping cut the factory stippling down a little and plus I need to add some next to the trigger guard so redoing the whole area allows for a better blend.

Then the finishing will begin, lots and lots and lots of coats of Tongue Oil this time. I have one surprise in mind for you guys but that will be a surprise.

I use a battery powered dremel tool with various size sphere shaped cutting bits.

I usually start with a larger, like maybe 1/16" and make my first batch of craters, them I move down to smaller bits usually doing only one or 2 sizes as you said it can be very time consuming but not as long as you think. With the dremel it is about doing random taps all over the area then I clean out the dust with an electric toothbrush and check. If I missed an area then I will focus on what I missed for a little while and clean again.I redid the grip area on mine in about an hour.

If it gets too course you can smooth down a little by spraying water or my favorite alchohol. It will cause the wood to swell and the craters start to blend into a more uniform finish.

It is more art than science, I have read of guys using the hammer and nail approach and yeah that would take longer.

Remember you cannot put back large amounts of wood, you can swell a small overbite but big ones can't be fixed so take your time.

Will an Edgun digital gauge fit on a TM1000? This little gauge is so hard for me to read. I'm testing things and I'd like to know more accurately where we are as far as tank pressure goes.

If there are other gauges that are easier to read, I'd be interested.

Also, what kind of ES are you getting with the RAW regulator. I have the .177 TM1000 and right now (after maybe 600-700 shots) the ES sucks at like 40+. Does it just need to break in?

Crusher

No, the gauge is too deep, it bottoms out on the reg housing.

Ok so now that I have money down on my action, I have a story to tell about how well Martin took care of me with a bit of mis-communications with my stock order. I want to be clear: I have no blame at all for anyone involved in this transaction-these things happen. Both the dealer and Martin went above and beyond to make sure the situation ended up being taken care of in the best possible way for me. I ended up taking Martin up on a very nice offer to get me a silver action. Rather than repeat it all here, this is a link to the post where I shared the details-including how to best get hold of Martin directly should you need to now...
