RAW REPORT

"Imold"The HMx will see a lot of shooting out of this stand be it coyotes or targets but I think this will be my getaway hahaha heck with the camper..
Nice stand. I was checking out the AZ Fish and Wildlife site today about hunting big game with my RAW .357. I can hunt pretty much anything except elk and bison. I can hunt whitetail, mule deer, pronghorn, and javelina. Between my Wildcat .25 and my RAW, I'm all set for small game and varmints in Cali and the bigger stuff in AZ!

This is what we use for icehouses and deer stands, this is the one I have, I also have a long hose so I can hook it up to a 20 pound propane tank so I dont have to keep changing those little green bottles from Colman. I'll just hang a oil lamp in a corner for light..If I go yote hunting at night during the winter it can be anywhere from 10 above to 20 below zero which wasn't nothing when I was healthy, just put on my Mad Dog winter hunting jacket and bibs with a couple other layers and I was good for about 3-5 hours, now with the meds and health I don't like cold at all but this stand will get me back out...I got the 4 wall frames built tonight now I just need to do some window framing and hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'll get them up and post a pic.https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Heater-F274830-Indoor-Safe-Portable/dp/B01DD6C4TC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1505011473&sr=8-4&keywords=buddy+heater

"Bitey"
"marcella69"And get this: I can legally hunt BLACK BEARS in Arizona (only 100 miles away) with my RAW .357. That's crazy!
A few years ago, I found a couple news articles about black bears being killed by .177 air rifles. Now my friends and I joke about .177 being the only round suitable for bear.
aa_limited sent me this vid (after watching it; I'm not sure I want to hunt black bear with any rifle!):

"aa_limited"any thing less than a 30 30 up to 50 yards is no good to take bear.
I'm using 7mm weatherby and 340 weatherby for all big game and the 340 is decisive once the trigger is pulled
This is my feeling on the matter as well! I still can't get over being allowed to hunt black bear with a .35 cal. air rifle in AZ. Maybe I misread it; I'll have to look at the AZGFD site again.

Ok a couple more pics of my stand as I await my HMx.....My stand ain't pretty but it will work for me I just need to finish the sides and roof and it's ready for me to move in.

"aa_limited"wow that looks like one nice stand , what are u planning to hunt from that stand.
i stand hunt my self fr bears.
my 177 raw is not up to that task!
I'll hunt deer with my crossbows but 1st I need to Range find a 35yard area around the stand so I don't shoot past that but I try to keep all shoots under 25yards, been like that my whole time with bow, crossbow I'm the same except I will take a 30 yard shot if it's a nice size deer and getting late in the season, with compound and crossbow I do Practice out to 60 yards but that's it, they say if you can constantly hit at a certain yardage( let's say 50yards) with arrows touching or very close to it your optimum range is half that distance so it would be 25yards..but that is for ethical hunters not the weekend warriors.....
NOW my main plan is to shoot yotes with the HMx .357 when I get it and get some range time in, I'm also going to set up a couple gongs that I'll be able to shoot from the stand, I haven't ranged any distances from the stand yet but I should get out to maybe 120 yards the way it sits but most importantly I have it set for how the yotes are moving and overlooking some deer trails. I'll just need to spend some time in it and see if I built it in the right spot.

"Imold"
"marcella69"I bet you had one heck of a treehouse as a kid!
Nope! Forts out in the woods was how we rolled, some were even below ground level.
Were you trying to bag the bunnies underground?
Hahaha not a chance but the Boy Scouts had nothing on us, we had a few big woods/forests out of the city limits but close enough to almost be in, it all depended on the group of kids a person hung around as to what kinda fort we would build, the one by the duck hunting pond was above ground and the one out by the collage was underground. BB guns and the Marlin model 60 is how I rolled, still have my Marlin 60 22lr....
