Reality check needed, please

As described to me here if I was the seller, I would have honored the deal if I said so. I'd leave negative feedback.

I have been in the exact same predicament as the seller spoken of here. I followed thru on the agreement I made and refused the full price offer. Sucks but that's the way it goes sometimes. The morality in this country is really degrading.

Both because this was a gun (not this specific gun) I had interest in for years, and because like many of you I feel a deal is a deal.

Yes, the reply to the offer was "You've got it! Followed by giving me his PP address
And yes, the moment I saw the text I replied "If you can cancel the other buyer, I will match the price"
Thanks for the neutral feedback idea, and thanks too for suggesting ignoring him in the future.
I've decided to leave something on the order of "Nice guy but" feedback. and describe the events
And certainly, will not do business with him in the future

I Emailed the seller & set up a phone call.
I asked a few questions, but more importantly felt that the seller was OK
The conversation was cordial
I made a very reasonable offer and promised immediate PayPal payment (including fees)
He agreed--Did you send the $$ immediately at this point? How much time elapsed between the "Agreement" and the "payment received"
one would have to wonder how he had enough time between the agreement and the receipt of fund to accept a full price offer to then get the text to you "the moment" you finished.
Then, the moment I had finished sending the money in came a text telling me he had accepted a full price offer.
I would feel much more comfortable accepting your account of the transaction if you had said "He agreed and I immediately sent the money"
I've had guys say they will take something and pay immediately. I agree and then I hear back from them in 2 days saying "I have to run it by my wife".

Truth matters. If I was the seller, that gun was sold as soon as payment was made. All other offers are refused.

I had a guy say he would buy a gun from me. I foolishly packed it up and had it ready to go. He then "went in another direction". I said nothing and wrote nothing. Fast forward months later and I posted a broken air compressor for sale for shipping costs. He was one of several "I want its". I wrote to him, " not you buddy, you once said you wanted something and changed your mind". He advised me that you can change your mind on things. Not with me you can't. He did not get the compressor either or nothing else that I have for sale unless he pays extra!

The last gun I sold on here I was offered more than the guy who planned on buying it was paying. I can’t blame the guys who made the higher offers, I might have tried it too, but I sold it to the dude who originally agreed to buy it. My point is this. I don’t know how many more guns I will sell on this forum. Therefore I don’t want a negative stigma associated with my name. Guys who come here to dump guns probably don’t care. I’m not in over my head in this hobby. Squeezing the last couple bucks out of a deal means nothing to me. I am way more concerned with how happy the guy taking the risk will be and hope he isn’t a nincompoop that won’t drive me crazy for the next two years because I essentially married him through the transaction.

So the way I read it, it sounds like the OP's payment got to the seller just after the full price payment. So should the seller have sold it to the OP? Or taken the full price payment?
What if the guy who he wound up selling it to had told him 2 days prior "I'll take it for full price". Then doesn't pay for 2 days. The seller assumes he isn't going to pay and accepts the OP offer. While the OP is making his payment the original buyer also makes his full price payment. Who gets it?

I have had nothing but great dealings on this forum. I just bought a gun and the guy agreed to wait a week for payment. He didnt try to sell it out from under me while he waited. I think people that dont honor their word should be outed. I dont want to do business with people like that. Only way to know is negative feedback with a name to go with it. I rely on some information from the forums to decide if I'll work with someone. Feedback is important. I was once told that if I couldnt pay quickly a guy had another offer that he was going to take. I was rushed but i got it done. I didnt like it but i feel the guy was fair to me. I'm used to making the deal and paying later in the day when i have free time. I've lost money on deals for keeping my work. If I make a mistake in a deal I'll try negotiate or eat the loss. That's business.

In your scenario the seller still didn't handle things properly. He should have voiced the situation to both parties, given the first party a chance to pay or told the new party that if the original sale didn't go through, he would let him know. Either way, if the seller was waiting on payment the ad should have been marked SPF.

As far I am concerned- ignoring the truth, not holding people accountable, not wanting to hurt someones feelings when they are in the wrong, or just plain ignoring a problem is what is going to eventually sink this country into a bunch of zombies with no voice.

He is definitely in the wrong, and you have every right to post negative feedback. He should’ve at least asked you to match the offer at the very least.

So please by all means tell us how it is that he was able to receive the other payment and text you so that you got it "the moment" the completed payment.
Geez it sure seems like a lot of Karen's nowadays, who only seem to report 1/2 the story. I'm mean not says that's what happened in this case, I kmean I don't want to hurt any feelings.
