Hello AGN:
[VERY long rant below, the tl,dr: don't buy from Sekhmet Online because they do not stand behind their products and have horrific customer service...]
I've never posted this type of feedback for any airgun manufacturer before and I did NOT want to post this at all but the experience I've had with Sekhmet Online has been so bad that I wanted to make the community aware of it so that it might save others from the same headaches.
Let me start by saying that I've used the Sekhmet 28mm gauges for several years now, really like them and think that they are the best digital gauges you can buy to this point (there are other options available now that are viable alternatives). Last month, I saw that they'd released a new, simpler and smaller 25mm model that is better to use at the regulator location and/or where you want a smaller gauge like with the FX angled bracket on the Impact M3. On October 19th, I ordered 3 of them from the company website and installed one on each of my two perfectly functioning M3's at the 2nd regulator location. Keep in mind that I previously had the older Sekhmet 28mm gauges at these 2nd regulator positions and they worked perfectly...and more importantly, didn't have any leaks.
Upon installing the 2 new 25mm Sekhmet gauges, what followed was two weeks of a lot of wasted time and frustration trying to get them installed without leaking. Nothing else was changed in my setup but no matter what I tried (whether installing them with the normal FX factory rubber x-rings or the white Delrin washers provided by Sekhmet (I even replaced the x-rings and Delrin washers at least once)), both gauges leaked at varying speeds depending on how they were installed. I tried screwing them on from just hand tight to very tight using a wrench and every installation leaked. Sometimes they leaked very fast when not tightened enough and other times they leaked slowly overnight; the best I could get was about a 25-30bar loss overnight, which is unacceptable.
Before anyone guesses that this is due to user error, I've been tinkering with airguns for almost two decades and had very carefully and systematically tried everything I could to troubleshoot the problem. At the end of the day, installing an air gauge is not rocket science and should not be this frustrating. Aside from the time lost, I wasted almost a full 60 minute tank of air trying to get these gauges to stop leaking. After two weeks of this madness, I gave up and put the Sekhmet 28mm gauges back . . . and the leaks were gone on both rifles on the very first try - which confirms that the issue was with the new 25mm gauges. For whatever reason, they just don't work with either of my M3's without leaking.
On November 2nd, I contacted Fred Lee at Sekhmet via email both directly and through the support email listed on their website for help throughout this process and he did reply the same day but all he could do was refer me to the basic owner's manual that was included in the box - which I already read and provided no help. Sekhmet has a 30 day return policy and a 180 day exchange policy. I didn't want my money back, I just wanted working gauges so I asked to exchange the 3x 25mm gauges for 2x 28mm gauges (which worked out to be almost the exact same value). Several days later, Fred tries to tell me that I didn't buy the gauges from their company and that I should try to work it out with the seller (umm, you ARE the seller)!
Once I made my exchange request, Fred/Sekhmet basically lost any interest in trying to help me. On November 9th (a week after my request and after several follow-up emails from me), Fred asked me to make a video showing the problem so that they could consider a RMA. So he essentially wanted me to go through all of the headache again, mess with my now airtight rifles and re-install the faulty gauges just so I could make a video of a slow air leak? What did he want me to do, set up a timelapse video showing it losing air over night or submerge half of my rifle under water to show the air bubbles coming out? I replied back to him telling him that I'd already spent 2 weeks dealing with this ridiculousness and wasn't going to do it again for a video trying to show an air leak!
With no response to that email, I followed up a couple more times again asking for the exchange and at 11:35pm on November 13th, Fred again insists on getting a video of the leaks before he would consider an exchange. As I was typing my frustrated response to him on the morning of November 14th, he sends me another email telling me to send the 3x 25mm gauges back to an address in La Puente, CA and they will send out 2x 28mm replacement gauges. I sent out the three gauges (2x opened boxes and 1x new, sealed & unused) within an hour of getting that email, documented the contents and provided the tracking #. The gauges were delivered back to Sekhmet two days later on November 16th and I followed up with them on November 18th and 21st asking for an update. On my last email, I stated that I would give them until end of day November 22nd to at least provide a tracking number before I called my credit card company to dispute the charge.
I have not heard from Fred/Sekhmet since that last November 14th email instructing me to send back the 25mm gauges. As of this morning, I've formally disputed the charge and am awaiting resolution. At this point, I don't care if I get the replacement (working) gauges or my money back - I'm just done dealing with this really horrendous customer service. This guy & his company have zero interest in taking care of the customer; it should not take over THREE weeks and numerous emails just trying to chase down a request to do an equal value exchange!
Sorry for the very, very long rant but I've never had such poor service from any company I've ever purchased from. Their (28mm) gauges are good but this purchase has so soured my experience with them that I will be actively looking to replace their gauges if/when I can find a suitable replacement. If you're considering buying any gauges from Sekhmet, be warned that they do NOT stand behind their products and should you have any issues with the gauges, you can expect some of the worst customer service you'll likely ever receive...
