So today I received a yong heng compressor I had ordered on amazon. Some of the fittings are rusty... and one fitting that attaches a stainless steel hard line appears crooked and possibly cross threaded. I'm thinking I should loosen it to observe the threads. Is this normal for these compressors?

Does it have the name Hong Yeng printed anywhere on it? There are lots of variations of these pumps floating around online. Hong Yeng and Tuxing are the main distributors but there is a lot of unbranded models with slightly different specifications. I gather that they are all made in the same factory. The rust or staining appears that something has been spilled on it, probably in storage, does the box have any water staining on it? I would run it and check for leaks before loosening any joints unless something is clearly cross threaded. If it is, contact the supplier and work something out.

Sorry for the late reply... I rechecked the listing I purchased it from and the main photo shows a yong heng with the label on the side but what I received was different. Mine does not say yong heng or have that one hard line coming out of the top.

I did back out that one fitting to check it and the brass threads look ok. But it wobbles when it threads on and doesn't feel right at all.

I assume that you are referring to one of the pressure-pipe unions. If It's not tight, it will leak. A lot of those suppliers ads use generic photos. Sometimes, even if you contact them before purchase, they will still tell you " Very good quality. You will like." Don't worry if it says Yong Heng on the side. It is only a trading company name, not the manufacturer.
