I am currently using a butterfly type sand bag for the front of the rifle and a sand bag for the stock. It works fairly well but adjusting elevation is a pain. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion or can share what you use. My rifle is a Kalibr Cricket, but I will also be adding either an Impact or Bobcat to my collection. I don't want something that has 12 different knobs and levers to adjust. I like things fairly simple but rock steady. I have been considering some type of one piece rest. Curious what others are using. Thanks guys. Mike

I recently purchased the Bald Eagle Slingshot shooting rest with windage system, front end and bag for just a bit over $200 with shipping. Works as well for me as rest priced several times more.

From personal experience, I would avoid the MTM Predator rest. My Bobcat would never stay put and would constantly slip and slide around, I imagine the same would happen with your Cricket.

Mikes are you going to be mobile or sitting tight in one place? I have two types that I use bags and sticks just depends. Normally, I just shoot off of sandbags, but I have had my eye on one particular rifle rest. A front rest from Randolph machines. When I go to matches and see what the top shooters are using....it's this one

The Randolph rest is the Rolls Royce of rifle rests. I had intended to purchase one but we were leaving for winter in AZ so I deferred purchase until spring. While in AZ I noticed one very skilled shooter using the Bald Eagle rest and decided to purchase it. The Randolph rest is much more compact than the Bald Eagle rest.

I picked up a used Caldwell Rock BR on Craigslist a while back and really like it...It's not perfect but it's dead steady once everything is set. I rarely use it because I mostly plink and hunt with my guns but, when I do target shoot I'm happy enough with it for the price.
I also shoot a lot with sand bags..In combination with a few text books from college I can usually get a pretty steady set-up fairly quickly.

Here is the rest I finally ordered. It is made In Altoona, Pa by students shop/machinist instructor in a high school. All proceeds go to help things for the students. It has gotten very good reviews on bench rest forums. $240 +shipping. Additional weights can be added to the legs. If anyone is interested I can supply ore info and give feed back once I get it in.

I've had a couple of Joe Cowan rests like above. Very nice rests. Regret selling them now. Heavy, bullet proof and good adjustments. You can do a search on RFC. The wait is what kills you, but worth it.
