Recommendations for a good FT pcp rifle under $1000

Lots of excellent options. Does the price include the need to purchase a fill tank, pump, scope, ect.....

Here is another vote for an AA 500. It is a very high quality rifle and it is easy to look at. Also it is very easy to load unlike a lot of the rifles out there.

Another question is what class are you looking to get into? Hunter PCP May be the easiest to get into but they are all fun.

Airguns of Arizonia had the Brocock Bantam in .25 cal, wood stock for $700.00. Enough left over for scope, mounts, and some pellets.

Best idea just get to a match, no rifle no worries just contact some people ahead of time, I've lent and borrowed rifles many times. Fire a few and see what you like, very likely to find a good used FT suitable rifle at a value price.
The AA rifles ( used ) are a good choice, and not a thing wrong with a Marauder w/or w.out LW barrel.

probably the best thing to do ,,,instead of having a chance of regrets later ,,is to attend a FT match or 2 ,,talk to some of the guys ,more than likely they'll give you great info with a chance of trying different kinds of rifles,,its very possible theres a few nice FT rifles in great condition being up for sale ,,just a opinion good luck ,,AIR ARMS makes some nice rifles for FT,PAT

PC59, I understand the desire for a PCP but have you considered a high end Springer? I bought an Air Arms TX200 MKIII several months ago as a way to enter Hunter Field Target competitions. I'm finding that the gun will rival most any low to mid level PCP for a fraction of the cost of getting into PCPs. I have about $1,200.00 on my rifle and scope setup. With a PCP you have your $1,000 rifle plus scope and Air Refill Tank plus an air source cost which could be per fill or a compressor. I would say based on my results so far a PCP will be hard to out-shoot me on a good day "with equal experience".And I'm only a newbe into competitive HFT. Give me a couple of years with my springer and where will I be? Plus I can take that money I didn't spend for a PCP and travel 6 hours to Minor Hill, TN or 13 hours to Texas State Piston Championships or 6 hours to Pyramid Air Cup. Just a thought. Happy Shooting!

The advice to just go to a match was spot on. Many great deals on FT rifles change hands among competitors without ever being advertised.

I assume we are talking Hunter class. I would consider the BSA R10 MK2 that is on close out at PA right now for $699. I got one back in July when they were $599. There will be some Black Friday deals coming up to knock the price down. My rifle is turning out to be great. It's very accurate and get around 82 shots at 20fpe. The stock is great (rubber coated wood) with an adjustable butt pad. The trigger is great after I swapped the two trigger springs out with springs from a cheap Bic lighter. With the extra cash you could buy the single shot load tray, Huma reg, etc. just a thought. I agree an AA400 or 500 is a solid choice.

Another to consider: Weihrauch HW110. They feel awesome in the hand, superb trigger, really nicely done stock. Available in carbine or rifle length. Around $1000.

I would also chose a 177 Marauder Field and Target with Lothar Walther barrel and best of all it has a good FIVE YEAR warranty too. You can order it from PA with the LW barrel and wait for a good discount coupon possibly black friday and maybe even combine with free shipping if you shop smart. Or wait until it shows up on the Crosman site to use the 25% off AGN discount code which I am guessing sooner or later it should be a normal selling item not just custom shop special order since PA already sells them with the LW option and have several in stock right now.

Buy a rifle that is ready to compete. Forget the cheap ones that you have to add upgrades to make it perform because, chances are, it may never. For FT, .177 cal is the only choice. I've seen the BSA perform very well. The AA rifles, whether the 500 or 510 are great choices too. It would be advantageous to get a rifle that is regulated too. Don't forget that the shooter is the one who makes the gun perform. You can buy a $3000 rifle, but that won't make you a winner. Maybe a whiner.
Look at the field target match results on the various forums and see which rifles the shooters are using. That's a good indication of what is successful.
