Tuning Recommendations on "must have" upgrades for FX Impact Mk2 Compact

Hello,

New to the forum and airgun world in general. Friend got me into hunting squirrels with a .22 PCP and just got hooked. Recently placed and order for FX Impact MK2 .25 Compact version. I know people mod this gun to crazy extent so looking for input on the "must have" upgrades that I should be looking into right away.

Some additional info: Will be using this gun mostly for hunting small game and target practice. I live in northern AZ on 2 acre property that lets me reach out to 100 yards safely and comfortably out of my patio. Planning on getting the longer 700mm barrel kit with heavy superior slug liner down the road to shoot heavier slugs for hunting coyotes.

Thanks for all the help and looking forward of being a part of this forum!

I have the compact in .30 and it’s cemented in my collection. I put the Saber tactical gen 2 Arca rail on mine and really like it. I opted for the full size model for more stability with the bipod mounted further forward and the 300cc bottle is fully caged in not that I plan on tossing it down a flight of stairs but better to have it and not need it. The Saber tactical bag rider works great also for bench stability and a great place to mount an ATN scope remote.

A lot of people replace the gauges as they are notoriously inaccurate. I replaced my tank pressure with a Sekhmet digital but held off on replacing the regulator gauge figuring I might be inviting a potential leak by depressurizing. I think you’ll find it’s so far from broken there’s no need to fix it. Pardon me if I sound like a fanboy but this is some fantastic tasting koolaid.

Odoyle is right though, the trigger is no Taipan or Wildcat.

Guys,

Thanks for all the input. Are there any internal modifications I should be looking at? Huma regulator etc.?

Thanks!

I replaced my bad regulator with a Huma only because it was faster and easier to get the Huma than to get the parts to repair my FX reg. If it is not broke don't mess with it as the Huma regs are not any better than a good werqing FX unit..

Bag rider and bipod for sure. After that I would just enjoy the gun and note the setting upon arrival to have something to fall back on. Try and figure which projectiles drill a single hole 5-shot group at say 30 yards then see if they hold close at 50 yards, stuff like that. You can screw one up quickly turning dials and knobs without knowing how to tune these. All that can come on the third day, lol. The cheek riser probably wont be needed depending on your head dimensions and scope used. Have fun!

if you plan on shooting slugs , get the Orion magazine insert wheel. The factory supplied magazines suck . Great that they hold a bunch of projectiles but when they go sideways in the magazines and jam with no way to pull the magazine without removing the barrel. It will bring a whole new level of p#$sed off. Especially in a target rich environment . Nothing worse than calling an outing short because of a malfunction.

FX knows of the problem with their magazines , 177,22 and .25 . They have redesigned the 177 a slight bit but they still jam. I’m not sure of the others.
