Recommended rifle for kids 4h competition? Crosman 1077 or other semi-auto?

My daughter wants a semi-auto rifle that she can use for a 4h shooting competition. We have an extremely limited budget. Can anyone provide any information or reviews on the Crosman 1077 or any other budget minded semi-autos? I am curious about its reliability and accuracy.

Thank you for your time.

Hope I am not butting in here, however, the 1077 may not be the very best (that's worded politely eh?) choice. It does use the "soda straw barrel" is not simi-auto- yes it does somewhat function that way but is a revolver using a plastic clip-, not a lot of improvements to be made either. DO get her one if that is all you can do but to me it is much more of a tin can shooter than anything else. Somewhat of a disposable rifle.
Any chance a QB could work for you/her? Have you all already been to some 4H shoots? Perhaps someone there is ready to move up the airgun chain and has a nice used something?

Keep us posted.
