Red dots on air rifles?

Sort of exploring options here. All I see is talk of either open sights or scopes on air rifles. What about a red dot. Do they work on an air rifle. I have an extra I took off of my pcc I use in shooting action games and I wonder if it will work. I just got my Gamo swarm fusion. I want to shoot the open sights a little first although the front fiber optic is way too small to see well. (That brings up another question about changing it to a bigger fiber diameter like in my firearms). The red dot is designed to go on a picatinny rail though, so are adapters made to change the mount on the Gamo to a pic rail?

PA sells this and they work well. I don't know how to make a "click on" link but it is under scope adapters

I use one on my PCP pistol, works fine.

@septicdeath uses them on his springers. He has an impressive collection and prefers tubular red dots over riflescopes on them (not the holographic type on the left). That makes good sense, as springers are notorious scope killers with their dual recoil. The red dots are sturdier apparently.

And see this on Aliexpress. Go for the Sunanasun store, for example. (Just stay away from the Airsson store, they depict a pair but send you a single).

Thanks guys for the info on adapters. I would think red dots would hold up to the back and forth of an air rifle since they hold up to the back and forth of a pistol slide in carry optics divisions. The gun slides are moving a lot more violently I'd think.

I shot my fusion for the first time today at my gun range. That tiny little front sight is just not going to cut it. I'll either go with a scope or a red dot.

I considered a red dot as open sight as there is zero magnification

I use an affordable bushnell. It has a 3MOA dot. It has held up terrific even on my jacked up springer. Gamo magnum in .177 approx 28 FPE
The dot gives you the flexibility to change pellet weight and still ave a proper zero. By using the top or bottom of the dot as your aim point at a given range.

I got get consistent results, that’s what impresses me. Temperature will affect this a well as all other factors do. The great thing is you can be reasonably confident at a known range. I hope this. Is useful info.
