Tuning Red Wolf muzzle adapter launch

Hey guys,

Well my first post over here on this forum, but am over on GTA quite a bit under the same name.

As the title states my RedWolf in .22 has shot the muzzle cap off of the shroud. So the carbon tube is fine, but the adapter that I screw my Huggett onto was launched down range. I am not seeing any damage to the adapter or the Huggett, so that is a good thing. Though now I am wondering why the epoxy let loose on the shroud. I did attempt to clean things up and roughen up the carbon. Applied some high strength epoxy and stuck things together. Is there anything else that I should be looking at as far as the cause? Or is there anything I should be looking at that would have caused this to happen.

There hasn't been any major impacts or anything on the Huggett, or the muzzle end.

Does anyone know the type of epoxy that is used at the Daystate factory for these parts? The other thought I have had was to remove the carbon shroud and just have a naked barrel. Though this would mean I need to remove the muzzle break that is attached to the barrel now.

Thanks in advance

Mine did the same shortly after I bought it. Just rough it up a little and use any good 2-part epoxy. I think I used some old bedding compound, maybe Marine Tex. It hasn't moved since, over several thousand rounds. The mating surface has to be rough enough to offer some purchase for the glue. I think I used a file to cut some small grooves for the epoxy.

If your muzzle is threaded for the air stripper, you could try attaching a silencer directly to it. My original barrel was terrible, and AOA replaced it with a non-threaded barrel, using a slip-on stripper to center the shroud, and it's been great since.

JB Weld is the best, and the Slow is better than the quick. Let it set overnight at 70 or above.

I have used a lot of epoxy. Nothing else comes close. It even sticks to glass and metals well

You're right, this is exactly what I used. I remember now, my old bedding compounds had all hardened with age, and I bought a couple of small tubes of the JB Weld, and it has held like solid steel.
