Redwolf bipod solution

Maybe this will be old news, maybe it will help someone else. I looked and looked for a suitable Bipod mounting solution for my Daystate Redwolf HP and honestly I just wasn't happy with the bottle clamp alone, or drilling into my stock for a swivel stud with 0 adjustment.

After much thinking and too much shooting off of a bag, I found a solution! I started with the Saber Tactical Bottle clamp, I next added a 1/2" picatinny riser (amazon part MT-1R7E13L) because I am using a swivel stud Harris bipod, I bought an MIM mfg 1913 rail to swivel adapter.

This was a fine solution but I didn't like the cantilever effect on the bottle, so I added a Hudson Hi-fi .75" isolating foot at the rear of the riser where it was closest to the stock. So now the weight is shared between 2 points of contact. I get 8" of front to back adjustment, it comes off fast, and really doesnt look bad at all.

Hope this helps!

I have a Saber bottle mount, but I just don't like attaching stuff to the bottle. I finally just installed a short pic rail to my Red Wolf. There's not a lot of wood to work with, but enough, if you're careful. It works great. I don't know if I would be comfortable putting a lot of stress on it, as in position shooting with a sling, but it's great for the bipod. I used one machine screw with T nut, and one wood screw, and it's very secure. The T nut is in front, and that's where you have to be very careful with the drilling.

Interesting - I don’t have a Red Wolf yet but am sure hoping to get one. I’ve wondered how stable those bottle mount pic rails were and also wondered about putting stress on the bottle connection to the rifle.

I'm probably overly cautious, as there appears to be anecdotal evidence that these bottle clamps work okay, and do no harm. But to me, it doesn't seem wise to be putting stress on the bottle. And depending on the rifle's weight, and how far forward the clamp is placed, there is a leverage effect. Attaching a pic rail to the Red Wolf stock has to be done carefully, but I believe it is the best method.
