If you have nothing else to do with a month of your life and you like to torture yourself, go for it. IMO it's not worth it. If your stock is beat up, use your gun hard and enjoy it and buy a spare stock to put the action in when you feel like. If your gun is new(ish) to you and the stock finish bothers you, do like I do....IGNORE IT for long enough and eventually it won't bother you anymore. You'll be glad you did.
