Regarding some beginner questions

"Today, I shot some paper targets in my backyard at a distance of about 20 yards. The target paper was 5.5 inches, and I used JSB .22 caliber 18 grain pellets. Many of my JSB pellets are deformed due to compression, which severely affects accuracy. Do your pellets also experience deformation from compression? Are slugs less prone to deformation? Would they provide higher accuracy? Can my airgun handle them? I once hit 5 pigeons at 30 yards, but 3 flew away, leaving only 2 under the tree. It seems the power is too low. I saw some bloggers testing and saying it's only 15FPE. I think I might switch to a PCP soon.

hello, I have that same gun laying around somewhere so I can share some info with you regarding pellets and power. in terms of power its right around 15-16 foot pounds. more than enough for pigeons and small game. keep in mind all guns will like different pellets, but mine liked the Hades pellets, the crosman 19gr pellets, the JSB 16gr, not the jsb 18gr, it did not like any h&n pellet I tested, and so far it seems to like the new norma FT pellets. what exactly do you mean by deformed from compression? are the pellets deformed before you put them in the mag, or after you shoot them?

"I bought some Gamo 15.4gr pellets again, haven't started using them yet, not sure about their accuracy.

JSB pellets are soft compared to other manufacturers pellets and during transit can get deformed skirts. I use a pellet sizers probe to reopen the skirts, others use something similar. Slugs do not have skirts so no deformed skirts 👍. I don't think a springer has enough power to spin stabiilze a slug in flight.
you use a what to do what now? I need more info on this, I have a full tin on bent JSBs from amazon...do not buy pellets on amazon unless their sold by pyramid lol

I use the probe that pushes the pellet down to be sized 👍, works like a charm and I do size each pellet tin before shooting, makes them all the same diameter at the very least. An added plus is when one sizes the pellets, pushing them thru usually makes each shirt more symmetrical unless they're really deformed...👍...hence the probe's usefulness.

you my friend, are a life saver. thank you for that. ive been salty looking at this tin of pellets that are literally unusable because some genius shipped them in an orange envelope halfway across the country with just one wrap around of bubble wrap.
