Epic Regulator issue.

I purchased the Epic Two with a Huma raptor already installed. The shot consistency was wild to say the least so I ordered a repair kit for the regulator and waited for it to arrive before digging in. The little plastic disc was installed upside down so I replaced all the o-rings, cleaned everything up and made sure all passages were clear and reinstalled the reg with the disc the right direction hoping that was the issue. Well the shot string aren't as wild but I noticed that the refresh rate was way too long so I decided to time them using the digital gauge I installed.
Over a 50 shot string, the refresh rate starts at 12 seconds and finished over 2 minutes to refresh to set pressure as the psi diminishes in the main tube.
From a 300 bar until approaching the reg setting of 125 bar I timed the shots refresh times get longer and longer as the pressure in the tube dropped.
I took the regulator apart just to see if anything else could have been missed and couldn't. Cleaned, silicone and back together to have the same issue.
Huma has been contacted but is wanting to direct me to the vendor since they installed it but it has to be this regulator in my opinion.
Any experts out there have a clue what the issue with refresh time?
It doesn't seem to creep past the set pressure but as I shoot it just takes a very long time and if out shooting I would just have to time my shots and be there all day long to get anything done.

That is true, not carbon copy just very alike.
I just assumed that the difference is the insides and how they regulate, the factory REG you turn in to increase pressure, where as the Huma you turn out like " normal "

00:25 here, what a racket outside, i was supposed to be drunk now but friend in bad mood so i drove home and he went to bed

I've had the same issue with the raptor reg giving an incredibly slow refresh rate. Huma weren't terribly helpful about it despite being bought directly from them.

I ended up enlarging the air transfer hole (the one that seals up against the disc with a little carbide pcb drill bit. Can't remember the exact diameter but it's about double what it started at, leaving a fair amount of that little rim that seals up against the disc intact.

It significantly improved the refresh time, although it's still in no way amazing. The consistency of the refresh is much better though. Takes around 12sec all the way through to just above reg pressure, with about 5 sec of that being the last 1 bar, which doesn't affect velocity much if you've got your hst just right.

I'm glad you were able to at least improve the refresh rate with the raptor. I had the idea to open the nozzle hole as well but haven't as of yet. Looking through some of my spare regulators I can see the same hole is usually much larger than the one in the raptor. Thanks for the information!

My pleasure.
I see huma now has the epic raptor 'out of stock' on their site. I wonder if they've realized there is something genuinely wrong with them and are fixing it. Before seeing your post I had considered ordering another one in case I happened to get a lemon.
My thinking was it would either be better and if not, would at least allow me to go more aggressive on the current one and see if I can improve it further without the worry that wrecking it would leave me without a functional reg and forced to machine a replacement piece, which would be a real pain time wise.
Of course that's now off the table until they restock.
Best of luck with yours!

I had a funny last outing.

So had a slug in the chamber and rifle de cocked for several hours, but then upon giving up i had to launch the slug, also did but almighty slow.
I think the regulator leaked and so the rifle was almost valve locked.
But the annoying thing is now many days later, the regulated pressure have not changed.

Other than that my Two and Huma regulator performed just fine lately
