FX Reinforcing a synthetic stock.

I am buying a Crown with synthetic stock, and am considering ways of reinforcing the stock where a bipod rail would be mounted.

I saw a thread where that whole front section of a crown stock under the bottle had broken off, and hear of screws working loose in the synthetic material.

I have a couple of thoughts on this, but just putting it out there to see what has been the mosr secure/successful.

One idea - drill and epoxy in a couple of paralel metal rods running from front towards gauges. (Not my best idea)

Inlet into the inside of the stock an aluminium plate with threaded holes so that a picatinney rail can be bolted into, sandwiching the stock between rail and plate.

Or epoxy in a couple of threaded rivets so that the flange is on the inside and bolt a picatiny rail through the stock into the rivets.

I like the idea of extending the rail past the stock, giving a better position for the bi pod and protecting the bottle a bit.

Thanks
Paul.

If this were my stock and I wanted to bolster the front, I would drill two holes inside the material front to back and epoxy two carbon fiber rods in them.

Finish the ends and call it good.

Years ago I filled a synthetic stock with harbor freight melted glue sticks. The plastic must be able to withstand the melted glue coming in or you'll have a warped stock. The stock I filled was glass filled nylon. It cost a few more bucks than I wanted but I ended up with one of the most solid albeit heavy stocks I've had.

Is Crown synthetic stock from hollow or solid plastic? Can you post pics of the bare stock (no action) from the top so we can see inside construction? Few good ideas were thrown here. If the stock is solid, then @Firewalker's suggestion to embed two CF rods is the right one +1. If it's hollow, I'd affix two CF rods as well and fill it with epoxy resin, maybe adding some CF mesh pieces to increase strength as well.

I am waiting for it to arrive, and will put up a photo, but someone else might too. I believe the stocks are solid. For this purpose I was asking about the section of the stock under the bottle where a bipod would be mounted. I personally don't want to mount onto the bottle.
I personally don't like to mount a bipod to a bottle, but sometimes it's the only option...

As an example, Kral makes its synthetic stocks hollow and wall are thin. No reinforcement ribs or sections. Jeez. See this brass nut, it's the only thing holding the pic rail for a bipod waiting to be broken off. That's why I always prefer wood or laminate stocks. Most of synthetic stocks I saw are like this. Interesting to see how well constructed FX synthetic ones.

The FX SYNTHETIC STOCK is not very strong and is made to fit the action and barrels pretty tightly so it is supported from flexing. Putting a rail on one should have additional reinforcement in a bar inletted and epoxied into the stock rearward and a screw anchoring it from the bottom of the stock up into the bar. I have done this on my Crown and Wildcat and a couple of powder burner rifles with synthetic stocks. This mod alone completely changed the accuracy on the powder burners.

If you have any photos of your work on the Crown, I would be keen to see it?

Can you please post pics of your reinforcement mods to the stocks. 👍
