ok follow up to repair : just shot 50 times with no foul up . about 1/2 inch ragged edge group .
I then inspected the screws and aluminum bracket , i could easily torque the screws and they would not protrude and the screw in the bracket is flush . ?????? i now jack the lever down with a bit of force at the bottom (full open) as i seem to recall the other day i was very calm/ relaxed shooting . Maybe i was cocking it too softly ? only thing i can think of .
tomorrow i will torque the stock screws and see if it jams again . let you know . Thanks again for all the help AGN does it again !!!

"I will check this screw out . but i cannot see how a screw suddenly does not fit flush and the rifle worked ok for years , maybe just loose ?
It works loose, I didn’t do the countersink the article talks about and I didn’t even disconnect the cocking handle. I just removed action from stock and tighten the screw
