Somehow I lost whatever screw setup holds the main valve knob on the top of my Joe B valve. Would anyone know the right size to get for a replacement? And if there are any washers or other things that go under it?
Try a dive shop if possible, my guy said they were quite well known also bought a TJ3 kit (valve internals) for only $35 Joe wanted around $59 to $68 . Also you will need to mod. a screw driver (take a slice out of the middle ) to get it back on tight.
It seems that the 8-32 is the closest thread that I have available to me. But it seems to stop too unless it is supposed to be some type of locking nut.
That’s a standard slotted nut you can get at just about any dive shop or online dive vendor. In the scuba business, Sherwood is the biggest valve maker, at least stateside. That nut sure looks to be a standard Sherwood.
Thank you for all the detail - I actually think I saw a spring on the floor that looked like that so I'm going to have a look around and see if I can find all the parts.
I retired from the sheriff’s department dive team 12/31/21 and donated my save-a-dive tool box that had spare parts and O rings and there were at least 10 of those I salvaged from old tank valves and would have gladly sent you one. I also used to make stainless steel screwdrivers for those nuts with a notch to clear the screw as it came up through the nut. Being stainless I never had to worry about it rusting in the dive tool box.
