Replacing Diana Model 6G front globe sight with ISSF-legal front sight

Hi,

Anyone know if it is possible to replace my non-ISSF regulation standard-issue Diana Model 6G globe sight with an ISSF approved open blade? Tired of searching and figured I would ask if anyone else has any ideas. I do not want to drill holes in the barrel, either, so that is not an option for me - would be like desecrating a piece of history.
Also, why the heck did the ISSF outlaw covered front sights, anyway?!? Does anyone know? Annoying.

Thanks!

That's a great question...to which I have no good answer! I did a bit of googling and found nothing useful.

Diana's own answer of course was the model 6M. But that gun presented its own problems as the front sight ("borrowed" from the full-race model 10) was much lower than the rear sight (same as the 6G). I had a 6M years ago and no surprise, it shot high at 10 meters no matter what I did to it.

Is the 6G sight simply friction-fit to the barrel, or does the muzzle have parallel grooves that might take some sort of clamp-on sight? Other possibilities:

A spare model 5 / 6G sight that you could cut the globe off of and modify.

A spare model 5 / 6G barrel which you could drill or otherwise modify.

A spare model 6M / 10 barrel for which you could devise a taller front post.

The sight has some grooves parallel to the barrel and a perpendicular (to the barrel and grooves) divot across the top of the barrel and into which a bolt sits which runs from one side of the globe sight to the other.

Don't really want to cut up barrels and modify any globe sights I find since they don't seem to make them anymore, but slicing off the top part of a globe sight is an idea. I HAVE toyed with the idea of trying to 3D scan and print my own globe sight and modify it, but at this point, I don't know how to do either of those things yet.

Thank you for your ideas!
