N/A RESULTS Central Pa Springer Airgun Match

No excuses your too old. 84 year old (85 in January) Nick Wacher shot his way into second place today. Nick is also frequently in the winners group at our 10 meter indoor league. Nick was shooting a Air Arms TX200. Also shooting a TX, Jeff Gates managed squeezing into first while Sam Salyards took third with his HW97. Our next match is Dec 21st. Next year 2 changes. First, we will be allowing .22 springers. The ShiloutteTargets will be caliber specific. Due to using worst edge scoring for the bonus half points the .22 target will be larger than the .177 target. Second will be a new class for the sledge system and opposing piston non recoil air rifes or Olympic style rifles as some call the

1 point for the hit. 1/2 point bonus if pelle0t is totally inside the animal. I put a dime on the one for size reference. Here are my targets from to day. I had a couple dumb shots.

Is this an open shooting event? Or member only? Where is central Pa?
Yes it is open to anyone with a .177 or .22 Springer. Match is at Double Tap Indoor Range in Altoona, Pa. 16602 . Here is the sheet for the 2025 shoots. The months of June, July, August are optional depending on what the majority wants to do. Currently s large part of our shooters are also avid golfers and several of us are heavily involved in centerfire benchrest or rimfire br so we will play that by ear right now. There is no formal membership at this time. Come learn, compete, and have a good time.

This is open to anyone. Here is our flyer for next year, it should answer your questions. Come join the fun. We start early so we are done before the powder burner range opens. We shoot above them on the second floor in the archery range. Great facility, we also of the use of the kitchen and eating area. Next year participants on the day of a shoot will get a 5 percent discount including firearms , ammo, and scopes as stated on the flyer. Come have fun. The target fee is 10.00 deducted from the total of the payout each match. If we take in 200.00 the range gets 100.00. That leaves 100.00 for the payout. 10.00 comes off that for the targets. So far 3 of us have paid for the targets but now everyone gets to join in.

If I were in your area I would be there with my 97K and prosport to shoot. Kind of a long haul from N.C.🤔

And the distance to the target?

20 meters/22 yards. Yes that's a drive. In my younger years I drove and flew all over the country to compete in various centerfire matches. It's more complicated these days. I use to have airline agents ask me permission to open my handgun cases just so they could see and handle what was inside. That would be panic at the airport call, the swat teams out today. I am fortunate in that I can attend lots of matches during the year within a 2 hour drive each way.

congrats to Nick Wacher !!! im a younger kid only 80 ,your an inspiration !
Nick is an inspiration and a great airgun ambassador. Through my posts on a centerfire form a gentleman called me about shooting Airgun. He was worried about cocking them. I told him not to worry as I am 77 and have no problems. He chuckled and informed me he is 90. Unfortunately he bought a 97 and it's pretty tough for him. That's one nice thing about the D75e, very easy to cock. That is what my wife shoots.

Can I print those targets, I would like to try that at 22 yards, although It would be outside.

He could tune it down to 10 ftp and it would be a lot easier to cock.

Funny you brought that up. I have had about 12 to 15 inquiries from readers on this forum that are about a half to 2 hours away. Several said they were coming. Not one has ever shown up. That's disappointing on many levels . But as they say, It is what it is.There is a lot of shared knowledge at our matches but I guess they are not interested.

Half hour drive would be easy. It would be fun shooting indoors with springer guys.
