I love the Christmas tree reticle with an open crosshair, floating dot. I wish companies would start making that sort of reticle with illumination BUT only that dot illuminates. Nightforce has a few options like that and I love it. I really wish more companies would stop giving 10+ MOA of hashes for hold under too. 1 or 2 is all I have ever really needed the rest is just clutter

If you could only get a dot Christmas tree in mils or an MOA in a crosshair dot, which would you pick?

The MIL variant with the dot. I prefer MOA but MIL is absolutely fine for my use. I rarely if ever range with my reticle so it really doesn't make much of a difference. I mostly just use the hashes as known holdover points.

fine crosshair FFP when pesting birds out to 100yrds.

I can't speak for either of those optics personally but I have read some amazing things about that Delta Stryker. I think its probably next on my list.
I do really like my Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 with the APLR5 reticle

I too have heard wonderful things about the Delta Stryker. Only reasons I'm considering the Trijicon are:
lifetime to purchaser warranty, service based in the US, dual red/green illumination, and comes with a couple sets of caps, so the price difference is minimal to me. Only dot retical is in MILS though.
I want the higher magnification so I can also use it as a spotting scope so I don't have to carry and set up my Kowa Prominar.

Understandable. I do the same thing with springer scopes. 16x is overkill but I can see all my hits

Cross hair or dot… in the types of reticles you are looking at, dots are definitely most popular nowadays. I didn’t like them at first, but I have gotten used to them and like them now.
Illumination… Most would say they never touch it, especially for target shooting. I only need mine with with big dark background that is hard to see the reticle.
MIL or MOA is super personal. I use both. If I have to count clicks, MIL all the way. Otherwise, could care less.

Ares ETR 15-60x56. It's in SFP and MOA.
Over the top build quality for the money and basically a G3 Athlon.
Only the center dot has illume which is daylight bright however not nuclear bright.
The reticle is on the finer side and of a more simple holdover type.
Reticle has .5 MOA hashes.
Zero Stop.
Large Side Wheel.
Glass is "awesome" and to me is its #1 attribute. Better than my G2 Cronus and seriously as nice to me as my S&B PMII 5-25x56.

The christmas tree style is kind of busy to me, but if you are holding over and for wind they can be useful. Standard Mils if clicking and follow the horizontal line for wind hold. Standard mils when trying to hold off both directions put you out in the air sometimes.

I love my Arkens, really small dot .3moa so it's n to covering up the target at 100 yards, only down side is....it's SMALL but, even with my old eyes it works fine, except for when the eyes say, "ok Spanky you're done for the day" Killjoys.
