Reviews of AV Avenger wood stock have a common complaint

I want one of the wood stocks, but worry that after waiting for a lifetime, they, AV’a china source will not correct the present problem detailed in the reviews.

Evidently these are the problems:

That the mounting screw holes are not drilled in the correct posit on.

The holes for the forearm rail are too large to hold the nut and when the nut is screwed onto the screws from the inside, it was found the nuts just pulled out through the too large holes.

More inletting needs to be done to fit the stock.

I have the .22 plastic stocked version, when I pick it up, it feels cheap, the rifle makes popping and creaking noises, like pulling a Dime store off a cliff with a Ford 250 diesel truck.

In spite of this, it is one of, if not the best grouping rifle I own, At 600 fps/ 12 fpe, the shot count is very close to 2, meaning two fills for a tin if Crosman HP’s.

I am anxiously waiting for the first reviews when the next batch arrives, perhaps the Chinese are waiting for the trees to grow bigger.

I must have gotten one of the very first rifles. Mine has no flaws that I've found in nearly a year of using it. I read all the complaints and just figure I am real lucky to have a good one or I shop at my local dealer who has only good ones.

Ross,

I am writing about the wood replacement stock.

My Avenger has been utterly reliable and accurate, just makes noise when I pick it up and carry it, however turning 73 today, so do I’m .:)

While I am griping bout things, I wished this spell check on here would disappear. It changes words into other words that have nothing to do with text that I write. I probably have spent 3 hours changing the poop it produces, and yes that is spelled sh-t

I have been researching the Avenger on this forum as well as customer reviews and videos and have seen the same feedback that you shared above. Some folks have shared they are resolving the issue by filling the hole in with epoxy and re-drilling it to tighten the fitment of the hole. I'm not sure if it is the best way to resolve it, but I noted it in case I run into this issue.
