Ridiculous Classified Ads... "Get a Clue!!"

This topic could go back and fourth all day forever.
Who cares really, let people ask what they want. If further policing is what you want, go elsewhere. Its an open forum, lets keep it open and free!! So many rules and rulers......reason to bitch and complain, just scroll on by and let it be. Support the extremely small community, not bash it.
@Bramezy By this same logic, “so many laws. Let’s do away with some of them. Let people do what they want. Who cares if people drink and drive? Let them do what they want. Everyone has something to complain about. So many rules and rulers….” Blah blah blah.

In all seriousness your argument is nullified by the terms and rules that you and others here agreed upon when you joined so this forum. I don’t believe it has ever been “open and free.” Why attempt mislead people into believing false claims that appear to be a result of your personal (mis)interpretation of said rules?
Come on guys .... we can agree to disagree being we are this sites minions at large and have no say on the sites tolerances of said F/S postings.
Lets keep it light & friendly ... Please ;)

My favorite classifieds are the ones that
1. Offer an item such as a used scope that if you bother to check is cheaper NEW on Amazon (by a lot sometimes)
2 . Says "price reduced" and was $750 shipped is now $650 plus shipping, for example (Good grief)
(or it no longer has a scope, or the bipod has gone missing, etc)
3. Like new, 2months old, only 30 pellets thru it. WTF is wrong with it?

I could go on and on and on and on

Edward

Way to go off the deep end to extremes

Some with a 1/2 page of the same unsold items. When they update 10 or more at a time, your item falls off the first page in only a couple of hours.
There should be some rules about the number of items you can have active at a time or the number of times an item can be updated before a meaningful price reduction.

The classifieds should be a place for all members to exchange, not an unofficial store front for a few.
Gonna say this one drives me a little batty. One time I had just posted a listing and some d-bag comes in and refreshes their 15 or so listings of overpriced stuff that hasn't sold for months and pushes me almost to the second page.

@Michael - maybe it would be better to push the "Renew" time frame out to 2 weeks or longer.

Perhaps we will consider limiting the # of daily ads.

Thank you

I purchased this BB gun used and it has been nothing but a headache to me ever since.

I think this is a solid solution, just not sure how to implement it. Either through coding (preferred, the forum automatically declines any attempted ad postings above X amount in the classifieds) or mods will have to manually enforce it. Is it a tad annoying seeing the same ad, over and over again because it’s a) overpriced or b) undesirable for some reason? Sure, but sometimes the same ad stays around awhile not because of those reasons, but because it’s a niche item that just needs to find the right buyer at a time when they have available funds. Money’s tight for a lotta people, and there are a few ads I’m following but haven’t jumped on yet because I need to replenish the play fund a bit beforehand. However, I’d much rather see the same small handful of ads with 20 bumps on them than see the same guy who bumps all 20 of his ads at the same time.

So I say limit ads to no more than 3 per user or something. It’s 110% OK to put multiple items in one ad, I do it all the time. Takes a little more effort to organize the ad so it’s easy to read and understand, but if you’re too lazy to invest some time in making your ad attractive, then maybe you oughta work on that some…

I don't necessarily agree. Sure, it can be "annoying" to view someone post over and over, but why keep restricting the page?

There are features in the classifieds section that allows you to view what you want.

Want to see the post with the least views, and least amount of replies that are only WTS for Pcp rifles? You can do that within one search and all the posts that have been refreshed dozens of times and are old would be pushed back. You get to see the newest rifles on the first page without having to worry about seeing recycled stuff.

This makes total sense. Why would we want more governing?
