Ridiculous!

I have been dialing in my M3 compact .22 for years. It’s always been good but never great. So about a month ago I went at it one more time to see if I could squeak that last bit out of it because it really is one of my favorite guns. I think I did. So tonight instead of one of my other proven long bombers for picking mice off a 130 yard feeder, I decided to see if this gun was capable of mouse accuracy at that distance at night. I set up and dialed exactly what Strelok said because I confirmed the data I entered was jiving with my gun last week.

This gun is not a night hunting gun often so I had to grab a Pard mount that I don’t use because the unit doesn’t click in very well. But I figured it would be good enough. It wasn’t as you will see in the first video. Two more videos to come to further explain this debacle. Age related or does this type of stuff just happen?

I heard the smack of the slug hitting the mouse as I fumbled to keep my Pard from hitting the ground. All I had was a 130 yard head shot at a mouse and I nailed it but didn’t record it. I was mainly mad because I couldn’t confirm the kill. Yes its funny to show this stuff to my airgun buddies and my dad but now I’m gonna have to go on a 130 yard walk in the dark to confirm.

131 yards on a mouse is definitely something to be proud of. Nice shot!

Thank you. But I’m really happy and hopefully going to be proud of the gun. I could always get it to hit real close to where I was aiming at extended distances but I needed that extra half inch consistently to have more confidence once I get over 100 yards. I had to think outside the box with some of the stuff I did to the gun this time. Hopefully it stays true.

That is some darn good shooting' OR , just plain luck ! Anyway you connected ! I felt bad about missing a G-hog this morning at 82yrd.s ( ranged it wrong).
Now after seeing your shot I might just curl up in a corner in the fetal position & wait for a therapist o_O !

After the Pard almost hitting the ground I finally chucked the mount up in the lathe and fixed it. Should have fixed it a year ago but I guess some of us almost have to get a wake up call. Took a whole ten minutes.

I’ve shot probably 30 mice off that feeder over the last year. I’ve posted some of them in another topic in the hunting section. I don’t view it about luck because they are mostly stationary nibbling. But we can look at it another way. We can be upset about missing a big fat grundy at 82yrds, I’ve missed those type of shots too. But how can you be mad about missing a mouse at 100+ yards. So on one hand I‘m expecting a lot out of an airgun. But on the other hand what I’m trying to hit makes it easy to swallow a miss.

Just to show I don’t walk on water, here’s the first shot last night. The gun had been sitting for a week but that is not an excuse for my Impacts. They are all expected to be spot on cold shooters. My wind string is hanging to the left of the feeder. I had a very slight breeze quartering towards me right to left. I should have held just a little more to the right because I just missed the mouse’s head to the left.

I thought do you really need to go into those pines at midnight just to confirm a dead mouse? But I had to. I had to know if this gun was going to finally be what I always wanted it to be. So I went for a walk. Armed of course because of the boogeyman.

@Vetmx That’s an insane level of marksmanship with an airgun! Helluva shot.

Thanks. That little .22 is just such a pleasure to shoot compared to my 25’s and 30’s. I’ve killed plenty of stuff with it out to 100 yards over the years, even some 50-60 yard mice. I was just never able to nail down a solid combo that gave me that “this slug is going to hit exactly where I’m aiming” feeling once I got out past 100. Hopefully I’m there now and the gun doesn’t loose its mind.

Last video, I promise. Tonight I did a quick scan over there and low and behold, a nibbler. And of course, nothing but a head shot. Hadn’t clicked scope since last night but this would be a true 24 hour cold shot. No wind and landed the slug to its head. And the Pard stayed on the gun. So far no damage to the feeder.
