Rifling

There seems to be more discussion lately on cut rifled barrels being superior to button rifled barrels. Rifling can be produced by single point cutting tools where a tool is drawn through the bore to cut one groove at a time, buttons that are pulled through and form the rifling all at once , hammer forging, and other processes. There is no one perfect method. If you buy 100 barrels of each type, you will find some that are better than others, and some are pure crap. Custom barrel makers like Lilja, LW, Muller, Bartlein, Benchmark, Shaw, Krieger, Hart and others strive to make them the best they can. It all depends on maintaining quality processes and finishes. There is no magic barrel. I've been surprised that even FX with their unusual barrel making process can produce some darn good shooting guns. That said, you can buy a gun with any of these rifling process and find it to shoot lousy. The best powderburner BR shooters sometimes change barrels several times before they find one that they are satisfied with.
