Robust PCP?

So I had funds set aside for a pcp but with this pandemic the funds had to go to bills. Once everything has settled down a bit and I can get the funds back up I am looking for a solid gun that is basically a tank easy to work on and fix problems doesn't need much tinkering and is accurate. I would like it to be in .25 and multishot if possible $2000 is the max and I had the uragan, rti prophet on the list but now thinking I should look at the r5m, the tipan lineup, Cricket lineup. The new edgun semi auto looks good but might be out of budget as well as the compact impact. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

EDgun Matador R5M for sure! Built like a brick poop house! I have many various other brands and models but, the R5M is the only one that was perfect right out of the box that required no tinkering, it’s my zombie

apocalypse gun.

What caliber do you have and are they easy to work on if a problem occurs

You want easy to work, least amount of o-ring, easily adjusted and accurate. my recommendation is the rti prophet. I had the high performance priest 2 in 25 and it was light weight, fun to shoot, accurate, handled extremely well in the field. I regret selling it as I didn't know Rti was developing an aftermarket side cocking lever that could be installed. The cz barrel lights out accurate. And you can take the bottle off and put it in a backpack to lower the weight of the gun. I am currently waiting on the prophet.

I am going to probably get laughed at..I bought another PCP gun right before the pandemic to play with and I am a huge fan of the Benjamin Marauder pistol.. I know I know.. but the gun is easy to work on, its whisper quiet, and it is balls on accurate to about 40 yards.. Now mind you it does only come in .22 but is has been lethal on the backyard pests..Its affordable as hell... I do also own a FX impact in .25 and that things is deadly too...I currently have this set up below.. It shots about 16-24 shots averaging 670-665 using a JSB Hades 15.89 grains before starting to tail off....I also have the ATN 4k 5-20 to record the fun and a DonyyFL Shogun here is a link to my Youtube videos, Check out the channel and let me know what everyone thinks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePhT-EA3PhM

It fun to own and Ferrari but its is also fun to own a tricked out Toyota ... Anywho that my thoughts........

Here are my robust airguns. Edgun R5M Standard .22 on the right with Arken Optics 4-14x44 SH-4. My go to shooter just deadly accurate and no hiccups whatsoever. Then the Taipan Veteran standard .177 with my SWFA 10x42 Mil-quad. Just got this gun and still breaking it in. It's a shooter though. Probably replace the reg with a Huma though.

That is a sweet looking setup for sure. I am looking for a hunting/pesting gun for chipmunk size game up to coyote occasionally if needed.

Not sure how high the edgun and taipan can be adjusted to but I can speak from experience the rti model I had at 60 ft lbs and wasn't even stressing the setup nor the regulator plus shot count was still high. The two stage match grade trigger was smooth. I shot one coyote with it at 65 yards and he went down DRT.

Tough = Edgun.

I've got a Lelya 2. The design of the makeup of the receiver, is second to none. One of their videos has a full sized pickup running over an Edgun. Still shoots to the original point of aim. Overall, I don't think that there is any, overall tougher out there.

As for easy to work on, don't know, mine hasn't required any work.

Aloha brawler1588,

So your looking for:

1-a robust gun. 2-easy to work on. 3-being able to shoot chipmunks to coyotes.

I would have to say the edgun matador long .25, I have one and its tuned to shoot jsb 33.95 @ 930 fps which equates to 65 fpe which should be enough. We don't have coyotes in Hawaii, but we do have goats & pigs that I have taken with my matador. I went with the long version for 2 reasons, longer barrel and bigger air tube. I have upgraded the regulator to a Huma which gave me a little more shot count, but its also easier to adjust the regulator on a Huma than the edgun regulator. As far as accuracy goes, its really accurate for the distance I hunt at, which is 50 yards max.

Aloha,

I never pulled off the air tube on my Veteran as I never had the need. The EdGun R5m air tube is pretty easy to remove and get to the reg to adjust.

As far as hammer spring adjustments, I think the Veteran has it - especially if you get the DonnyFL quick adjust kit. The EdGun you have to remove the stock to adjust the hammer spring.

As far as cocking the Vet will be rear cocking, whereas the EdGun will be mid-cocking.

You honestly will not go wrong with either - you just have to figure out which feature is more important for you.

How hard was it for you to tune it for those numbers? Also you head shooting the larger game?
