Rodpup got his Christmas wish!

Where im at tree squirrels arent very prevalent or problematic and get left alone. Ground squirrels, rats, skunks, rabbits(ocassionally hares), raccoons, feral hogs, coyote and several winged issues as well as some feral issues get quietly handled by everyone I know. Then there are game/fur bearers that most play by the rules for. It's a tightrope walk with people's sensibilities regarding a couple items. Even then the percentage of people forum posting about it is even slimmer.

For a long while a rancher (this is still California mind you) I knew just hit coyotes in the lungs with 22lr so he didn't have to clean them up, which for a good portion of people is problematic. The book Coyote America is enlightening regarding coyotes. Essentially as i understand it, the more coyote we shoot the more fertile the females become and it's an uphill battle

Charismatic fauna that people anthropomorphize is generally the touchy issue and boy am I in the right state to hear that 😂. It just catches us off guard when they come to the forums with paper and only paper preferences when this is a hobby that we all know starts a certain way for almost all young boys... Almost.

Every single pest or rodent I drop was in self defense. They're like piranha if uncontrolled.

If they'll compromise and let me shoot furries I will absolutely consider a deal.

...Each year, I see less and less of the animals. And each year there are more and more, people, killing.
I save my guns for the paper. If I had to survive in a critical situation where it's eat or be eaten. I would do that.
In the meantime, I can afford a hamburger.
My grandfather used to say, " never love a calf because you may have to eat him/her one day.
@ChefSparrowRagazzi Let’s really look at what’s being said here. “each year there are more and more, people, killing.” What are more and more people killing each year? Cows for your burgers?

Now on to the second claim. “If I had to survive in a critical situation where it’s eat or be eaten. I would do that.”

Do what? Get eaten? If that’s not what you mean, are you suggesting that shooting stationary paper targets will prepare you for a survival situation where you can turn your paper punching skills into hunting skills that your survival would depend upon? Am I following your train of thought correctly here?

@Dr. Kralenstein Nice looking gun you cobbled together. What did it start out as?

Not meaning to start a fire here, but I will try to answer your inquiries.
I hunted , trapped , bow hunted, long range stuff too. For many years. One day, going for a humane kill with a .243 on a buck about 200 yards, I went for the head shot. I broke the trigger . I made the hit and the animal dropped like he was struck by lightening. When I walked up, the animal was struggling for its life. It was not a good hit. Something about that made me question things. Like, " what if the shoe was on the other foot?"
For days I thought about the animal struggling for its life. Somehow, I turned to wildlife photography and started spending a lot more time outdoors, with the animals. Year around instead of just hunting and trapping seasons. All year around. That progressed to over half my life practicing wildlife photography. Seeing the animals all the time and shooting them without killing. It's close to the same thing as hunting , only you're not killing. If I had to go back to hunting as a survival method, I would. But for now, I'll just leave it to others to do the killing. If that makes me a big ole wimp, then ok. I'll own it. I can't imagine a world without animals. But it seems that is the direction things are going..
Happy new years to you guys.

If the shoe was on the other foot? I certainly hope no deer start picking up rifles and shooting back.

As for your question, the gun is mostly a marauder pistol and a shorter tube with bottle setup, and the bullpup kit I cut down to fit.

I actually just got a squirrel with it when I got home. Direct head shot and I thought he was dead. I went to take the Pic, and he was still sqeaking and breathing a bit.

Know what I did? Set my gun up next to him and took my pics anyways. I could've gave him a mercy shot, but why waste the pellet and make a bigger mess?

Here's a picture for the wimpy kids who can't stand seeing a dead animal in the HUNTING FORUM.
