Rookie fill probe mistake

Blowing orings on my Steyr pro x 10 and my Steyr hunting 5sa - trying to fill - me as in cavedweller always has spare fill probes = good ? Well not if the spare fill probe is for wairauch and it found it’s way into the Steyr support case by way of a guest shooter.

Fortunately the only damage was to the probes oring and my pissed off ego

I am new to this airguns and only have an AV Avenger which is a direct foster hook-up. That said I am looking into a Huntsman Revere which uses a probe. So I am trying to learn, what was the oops and how would it be prevented.

@Bullpupone your gun should come with a fill probe.... make sure you always use your correct fill probe for the PCP your filling. Keep your probes clean, and keep the place where you insert the probes covered / clean. Always fill your PCP slowly and always bleed off pressure from your fill line, before trying to remove your probe.
