Tuning Routine lubrication Crosman 1100

OK, it's not the fanciest or most expensive rifle but it a lot of fun and I want it to last a long time. The ma ual states to oil the piston and linkage after 250 shots but I have been waiting until I can feel it grating from no lubrication. Am I damaging my rifle?

Yes, if you feel grating you are wearing the surfaces with no lube. A tiny bit of moly grease will last much longer than oil on the linkage parts.

Thanks. I didn't want to over lube and have a dirt collecting mess. I also didn't want to run it dry and wear it out.
