RTI RTI .22 P-2 rollcall

Greetings everybody. I'm test driving a new .22 P-2 and had some questions I hope you can answer. I tried doing a search, and didn't get too many hits.

The gun is shooting JSB 18.13 @ 970 fps. The instructions are not good regarding changing the hammer spring, but this gun only has one air gauge at the bottle. How does one change the regulator pressure? What's the default reg setting from the factory?

The gun came with the steel air reservoir. If I want to convert to carbon fiber, beside buying direct from RTI, where else (USA) can I look?
And can the bottle be removed from the gun while under pressure? the instructions that came with a gun were unclear.

And I got one mag with the gun. I'd like to buy a couple more if I keep the gun. How do CARM mags compare to stock? Any other brands I should consider?

Looks like a pull-thru cleaning system would work best, as I don't want to pull the barrel off every time I clean the barrel. Is everyone in agreement on this? And on the subject of barrel removal, if I do, is it necessary to re-zero?

And generally speaking, what's the typical break-in period before the action smooths out?

Sounds like you have a basic model, single guage indicates a fixed pressure regulator installed. Best ask who you purchased from.

Looking at the speed with jsb 18 grain id guess it's a 125 or 150 bar regulator installed.

Not much adjustment needed on the hammer spring, it simply needs to open the assisted valve, more useful when you have a adjustable regulator.

Mags, I only use RTI. Plus a RTI single shot tray. Carm and Darko mags are available.

Bottle, I'm not in the USA so can't help.

Barrel cleaning, I always remove the barrels. It's so easy.
No point of impact change, no re zero.
Simply a few shots to lead the barrel.

You could buy the adjustable regulator from RTI, and change the bottle to a carbon fiber wrapped bottle. 970 fps is pretty hot, you may do well to try heavier pellets, such as JSB Monster lights at around 22 grain, or JTS of the same weight. I use both Carm and Orion mags with no problem.

I do have a small tin of the JSB jumbo monsters, lites 20.83 grains. The gun is shooting those the same as the 18.13– 970 fps.
The new RDMs 25 gr come in either deep or shallow skirts. Have you tried those?

I do have some of the shallow MRD’s, but haven’t tried them yet. I have shot a lot of the FX 25.39’s, which seem similar to the MRD deeps, with good results, but with occasional flyers. You may want to chrony the 20.83’s again, I’m surprised you get the same velocity as you do with the 18.13’s. I have great results with the JTS 22.07, which has become my go to pellet.

I think I’m just over a 1/2 MOA at 50 yards. There is a few questions that I’m going to be asking the manufacturer. As I am in the United States, I may not know for a few days, and will update this thread once I get some other information..

If you are 1/2 MOA at 50 yards with 18.13 and 20.83….

… don’t change a damn thing !!

Didn't see anyone answer your question about getting parts for the thing be they upgrades or repair. Tony at Talon Tunes is a go to dealer. He can also answer most of if not all of your questions. AoA is also a dealer now, but they don't keep much in stock.

Thanks for the tip on the JTS pellets, that's a brand I haven't tried yet. looks like The Pellet Shop has a good sale on those.

CZ barrel, 508 mm in length. Fixed reg set at 125.

I have some other pellets to try out, hopefully I'll get those mid week. In the mean time is there anyone else with the same basic gun that can tell me how to adjust the hammer spring?

The hammer spring should be adjusted to just open the valve, plus a half turn. The hammer spring has very little effect on the velocity. Velocity is adjusted by reg pressure. In your case, the power is pre-set, and you can change velocity with ammo weight only.
