I trust your opinion and I too have reached the end of the FX tunnel. I fortunately am not in the recovery program because I start all relationships with these overpriced toys disliking them the second they come out of the box. As I mount scopes I’m looking at it like in how many ways are you going to disappoint me. Then it’s up to it to impress me. I’ve always favored Eastern European guns. Always owned several since 2017. Lately I’ve been adding some more and moving other manufactures out.Ive had the .22 600 for 3-4 months. I’m in the FX recovery program, trying to stay on the wagon free of slow first shots and shifting POI. The Mora passes those tests and I concur with most of droogmoles comments. Will add that it is very potent - mine shoots Altaros 40grain slugs at 980, still with little drama and a smooth shot cycle. Another guy I see at the UA range has the 25 shooting 60grain slugs at 120fpe. I haven’t had problems with barrel fouling and the gun settled in very quickly.
Also very quiet with the monster shroud and mod. Great trigger and magazines - all metal, no cover, just rotate and load.
On the minus side, I hated (and ditched) the flimsy Arca bottom rail. Getting by with a clamp but on my list to machine something. Also, don’t like the very long pull of the cocking lever, due to the deep chambers in the mags, which seem like they could hold 100grain slugs
Now, all that said, I also have a Taipan vet2 tactical .22 700mm, which is much less potent (28g Zans at 930), but I find myself using it way more often. It is an absolute gem in terms of refinement, operating mechanics and shot cycle. The Mora is likely just as capable (accuracy wise) but the Taipan makes accuracy easier even when the Mora has a comparably mild tune. Just my honest, personal opinion.
Likewise and happy new year. I appreciated many things about the M3 but it was a serial cheater. When the rats started playing chicken beyond the far zero, I had to get the divorce.I trust your opinion and I too have reached the end of the FX tunnel. I almost ordered a Mora but went with an AGT in .30. I know the barrel RTI uses in .30 because I have one. Not impressed. I still want a Mora in a smaller caliber but I am nervous that I won’t like carrying it around. So your post confirmed what I was thinking because I know exactly what you’re talking about. Not saying a gun is a bad gun but some are just nicer and more confidence inspiring to shoot.
I recently did some comparisons with my P2 .25. I shot the 600mm RPB for a while then switched to the 500 RPB. Absolutely no comparison. The 600 was better with everything all around and way less picky about speed. So as appealing as the compact Mora would be, if I order a .25, it has to be 600mm. Since it’s a bench gun or will need wheels, I will have to pass. It also looks like an odd handling gun for hunting situations.Likewise and happy new year. I would not want to carry the 600 Mora, not likely even the compact. It’s a bench wench in my book. Good luck with the AGT.
what 2nd reg pressure are you running to get the 40g at 980 fps,Ive had the .22 600 for 3-4 months. Is it quieter than a .22 BB caps or .22 CB or .22 short out of a rifle with a >18" barrel?I have the Mora Sniper in .35. As most of the above posters have said mine has been great out of the box. Very accurate, and quiet. I shoot mine without the extended mod on and it is still quiet. I turned mine up to shoot 135 gr slugs at 910fps and get 2 full mags, and I got the 700cc bottle on mine. Mine didn't take too many shots to get the barrel to settle down. It is a awesome gun.
Mine is at 180 too. At least according to the gauge. It was shooting them at 900 with 150.what 2nd reg pressure are you running to get the 40g at 980 fps,
i am at 180 with 34g to get 960 fps
980 with a 40g ..that's impressive for a .22!!Mine is at 180 too. At least according to the gauge. It was shooting them at 900 with 150.
