RTI Prophet Barrels - Information Thread

Excellent info - thanks!

So, if I buy a couple spare V1 hammers from RTI and add some weight to them, how much weight would you suggest to start - that will make a noticeable difference without being “too heavy”? 10 grams? More?

Also, I’ve never melted pellets. Could you simply drop the crushed pellets into the hammer and then heat the end of the hammer with a butane torch?
This is my "quick&dirty" way: just put 5g or 80gr of pellets inside my hammer, place it over a flame and wait till the lead is melt down. Let it cool on a flat, regular surface and you are done. Also remember that, if you want to remove the added lead, you just need to turn it upside down and warm it u til the lead fell off. If you want to try with a door pin, remember to polish pin, spring and hammer. A nice chamfered hammer entrance will be good, also.

This👆🏼, I have several sizes (weights)made from hinge pins, they are an ideal McGuyver solution!
A good metal to metal or metal to carbon solution for a non-permanent bond for the hinge pin to hammer might be point insert "hot melt"..an archery product that's easily removable with low heat but is capable of withstanding repeated impacts.

The chamfer at the back of the hammer is the first thing I did, that helps the cocking effort and feel. I do indeed polish the hinge pin, as well as the hammer. I also use self stick teflon glide tape on the inside of the left cover plate, where the cocking block slides. All these things add up to a smoother (but not smooth) cocking effort.

A buddy recently had a hickup with a barrel-swap:
He was trying to put a Prophet 2 .25cal Compact RPB 500mm barrel into a Priest 2 .30cal Compact.
Didn't work. So, now, I'm cautious.

What I would need to know:
❓ Are the diameters of all the RTI barrels so far the same?
❓ What IS their diameter (16mm)?

Because if barrels have different diameters, then I'd need to get the right-sized barrel washer (or make one?). I see spare part No. 11 for non-RPB barrels on Prophets, here:
https://www.rtiarms.shop/collections/spare-parts/products/barrel-washer-spare-part-rti-prophet-11

Thanks, 😊

I realize this thread is a few months old, but I am passing along what I learned today. I am getting a Prophet Performance 2.1 in .22 caliber. I want to shoot the 25.39 Monster Re-designed pellets out to 100 yards, especially now that JSB has the deep skirt/shallow skirt mixed in tins issue resolved (hopefully).

I ordered a LR barrel from the RTI shop in Spain. They wrote and said they did not have any of the 2019 barrels with the 1:32 twist. They said they had a newer better one. I assumed it was the RPB barrel with the 1:16 twist. Then they said they shipped it. I called them and now I understand.

The new LR barrel is available. It still has the 1:32 twist like the old one, but it has the new improved transfer port of the newer barrels. The only thing that is changed is the transfer port. I was relieved to find that the 1:32 was still available as it's the better choice for MRD's at high speed, out to 100 yards. I will keep the RBP barrel which is good for pellets at slower speed/shorter ranges and slugs.

Interesting, will you post a picture when you receive the barrel.
I have a prophet 1 and 2, plus a few barrels and all versions of the latest JSB redesigned but have never heard of this LR big transfer port offering.
Sometimes RTI arms shop get things wrong,
Good luck 🤞

That's my fear (that they got something wrong). I personally spoke to Francisco and he assured me the barrel will be a 1:32 twist, which is all I really care about. I am not as concerned about the transfer port. The old one was fine. This is the link he sent me of what he says he shipped:

Francisco said this is the barrel he and Gregor used at EBR 2023. I believe Francisco was shooting Gregors gun, and came in 7th due some technical issues and lack of preparedness.

I'll keep everyone posted-carl

To add to this helpful information collection:

➧ Prophet II Compact Performance .25cal
➧➧➧ RPB barrel 😊
510mm (20") long

Unlike the Prophet I Compact with the 400mm (15.75") barrel, the Prophet II Compact does not have much usable shroud between barrel end and shroud end. I suspect that this makes the gun louder....

Interesting news. Please share a picture of your new barrel when you receive it.

Damn, I stockpiled (lol) three of the V1 1:32 twist barrels (one .22 and two .25s) - as I thought they would not be available anymore. Now you are making me want another barrel, lol.

Can we ask the cost of your new barrel?

The good news is if prices on new stuff keeps going up the things we try to sell in the classifieds will look like a bargain!
